Samsung Galaxy A80 may be launched next week

Samsung may launch its new Galaxy A80 smartphone in India sometime next week. According to Sammobile, the company plans to hold exclusive previews of the phone across the country next week. The report notes that these events will be held in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata on June 8 and 9, and will give people a chance to get a hands on experience with the phone. The publication also speculates that the phone might be launched soon after these events. It should be noted that the company is already expected to launch the Galaxy M40 on June 11. So it is possible that the company will launch both phones together. 

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is possibly the most radically designed smartphone by the company in a long time. The device’s most notable feature is its slide out rotating camera. This system sees the rear panel slide up and the entire rear camera module rotates forward to act as a front camera. This also allows the phone to offer an edge-to-edge display. The Samsung Galaxy A80 packs a 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels. It also packs an in-display fingerprint sensor and it also acts as an earpiece by sending sound through vibrations on screen. 

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset with 8GB RAM. It also offers 128GB of storage with no option to expand the same. As for the camera, the device packs a triple camera setup with 48MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens and an 8MP sensor with a wide-angle lens. The third camera is a 3D ToF sensor for depth measurement.

Samsung Galaxy M40 entire specs leak ahead of May 11 launch, tipped to feature smaller battery than before

Samsung has confirmed it will launch its Galaxy M40 smartphone in India on June 11 but info about it keeps leaking. The company has already confirmed some specs of the phone like details of its rear and front camera. Additionally, an image of the handset was spotted on the phone maker’s online shop, revealing the device’s design in entirety. Apart from its exact pricing, most specs of the Galaxy M40 have now leaked online. SamMobile reports that the smartphone will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC and come equipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. 

We know that the Samsung Galaxy M40 will feature an Infinity-O display. It is said to come equipped with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ screen that sports a 2340×1080p resolution. The handset was previously rumoured to come equipped with a 5000mAh battery but the new report suggests it will get a smaller power cell with 3500mAh capacity. The smartphone will feature a triple camera setup that will consist of a 32 MP main sensor. There could also be a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. On the front is a 16MP shooter and the phone is expected to launch running on Android 9 Pie. 

A company executive has already hinted that the Samsung Galaxy M40 will be priced below Rs 20,000. This means that the handset will go up against the likes of the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro and others that are categorised in the same price range. Samsung has been aggressively revamping its sales strategy by introducing flagship-level features in its A-series of phones. Its M-series of handsets also benefit from it and now we are seeing less expensive handsets by Samsung come with updated hardware. The Samsung Galaxy M40 is shaping up to be one such device, which joins the Galaxy M10, M20 and the Galaxy M30 in India.

Motorola will not launch Moto Z4 Force or Moto Z4 Play this year

Motorola recently launched the new Moto Z4 smartphone. However, those hoping for a Play or Force variant of the device may be disappointed. The company has confirmed that it will not offer a Moto Z4 Play or Moto Z4 Force versions of the phone. The news was revealed by Motorola’s US Twitter account in response to a user query, “We will not be announcing additional moto z devices this year,” said the tweet.

It should be noted that the company’s previous Z-series phone, the Moto Z3 also did not have a ‘Force’ variant, although it did offer a ‘Play’ version in the form of the Moto Z3 Play. The last ‘Force’ device was the Moto Z2 Force which was launched back in 2017.

To recall, the ‘Force’ variant of the Z-series is usually considered to be the flagship offering from Motorola. Besides the usual set of specifications, the phones also offered with the company’s ShatterShield technology that protects the device’s screen from breaking in the event of a fall. The ‘Play’ variant on the other hand is usually a more affordable variant of the phone. All three varaint’s offer support for the Moto Mods attachments. 

It should be noted that the current Moto Z4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 instead of the flagship-grade Snapdragon 855. So it is not yet known if the company plans to launch a smartphone powered by the chipset later this year. It may be speculated that the company might be working on a new flagship smartphone series that would be free from the design limitations that come with Moto Mods. However, we will have to wait and see what the company has planned.
