Garena Free Fire: Convoy Crunch 

The new Convoy Crunch mode in Garena Free Fire will be a limited time mode. In this mode, players will be divided into two teams. At the start of each round, one of the teams will play the Invaders, while the other will be Defenders. The Invaders are tasked with escorting a vehicle to a specific destination, while the defenders have to ensure that does not happen. Both teams will take turns playing as the invaders or defenders. 

The vehicle will only move when there are Invaders inside a set radius around the vehicle. However, if the defenders are within that area, the vehicle will move backwards. If both teams are within are radius, the vehicle stops.

The winners of the mode are decided by one of two outcomes. The teams that use the least amount of time to get the vehicle to a destination. Or, the team that advances the vehicle the furthest distance. 

The Convoy Crunch mode will be available till August 3.

The Micromax In 2B has officially launched in India as the latest budget phone from the company. It follows the In 1B that marked the comeback of Micromax in the market alongside the In Note 1. Micromax is also venturing into the audio product category with two new pairs of earphones that it’s calling the Airfunk 1 and Airfunk 1 Pro. The former is a budget wireless earphone while the Airfunk 1 Pro offers noise-cancelling features. Let’s take a brief look at the price, specifications and availability of Micromax In 2B and the Airfunk 1 and 1 Pro TWS earbuds.

The Micromax In 2B is priced starting at Rs 7,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and Rs 8,999 for the 6GB+64GB storage variant.

It goes on its first sale on August 6 on Flipkart and Micromax official website.

Micromax In 2B features a 6.52-inch HD+ (1600x720 pixels) display that has a waterdrop notch cutout for the selfie camera. Being a budget phone, the In 2B has a plastic build that measures 8.9 millimetres in thickness and weighs 188 grams. It is being offered in three colours: Blue, Black and Green.

The Micromax In 2B is powered by the UniSOC T610 processor that has an octa-core CPU. The In 2B is the first phone in India to use the T610 SoC that has two Cortex-A75 cores running at 1.8GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8GHz which are backed by the ARM G52 GPU. This is paired with upto 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB storage options to choose from. There is also an option to expand the storage with upto 256GB microSD card. It runs on stock Android 11

Micromax In 2B has a dual camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 13MP camera that uses a Samsung sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth camera. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera housed within the notch. The rear cameras can record in 1080p at 30FPS.

There is a fingerprint reader on the back and the In 2B is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery.

Micromax Airfunk 1 and Airfunk 1 Pro pricing and features

The Micromax Airfunk 1 Pro TWS earbuds is equipped with 13mm dynamic drivers and Qualcomm QCC 3040 chip that also offers environmental noise cancellation features. The Airfunk 1 Pro is also IP44 rated which makes it splash-proof and dust resistant. Micromax claims that these TWS earphones offer 7 hours worth of listening time on single charge and 32 hours with the charging case. It also supports touch inputs for music playback control, answering calls and more.

Meanwhile, the Micromax Airfunk 1 features 9mm audio drivers that are tuned to offer a bass-centric performance and is also IP44 certified. It is claimed to offers 5 hours worth of listening time and 15 hours with the charging case. Like the Airfunk 1 Pro, the Airfunk 1 also offers touch controls and a voice changing feature.

The Micromax Airfunk 1 is priced at Rs 1,299 while the Airfunk 1 Pro is priced at Rs 2,499 in India. Both the TWS earbuds will go on its first sale from August 18 on Flipkart and Micromax official website.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT mid-range GPU for 1080p gaming announced: Price, Specifiations

AMD has outed a new Radeon RX 6600 XT for the mid-range gaming market. The RX 6600 XT targets 1080p gaming and promises 9.6 teraflops performance. AMD is confident that it will outshine the Nvidia's RTX 3060 12GB at 1080p that was launched at $329 but sells for a lot more. 

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Specifications 

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is based on RDNA 2 architecture and like all RDNA 2 graphics cards, it has a pretty fast game clock of 2,359MHz. The Infinity Cache is 32MB which is significantly less than 96MB and 128MB that we have on other RX 6000-series graphics cards. AMD assures that the infinity cache will prove adequate for 1080p gaming. 

It features or 2048 streaming processors or 32 Compute Units (CUs) which is just eight short of RX 6700 XT that sells for $479 and is meant for 1440p gaming. AMD also adds 32 Ray Accelerators that should be good enough for up to medium ray tracing settings in compatible games as of today. Going by the ray tracing performance of RX 6700 XT, we expect the RX 6600 XT to fall behind Nvidia rivals in this regard.

The 6600 XT also has 8GB of onboard GDDR6 memory. PCIe bus width is limited to Gen4 X8 as the graphics card hasn’t been designed to handle high-end workloads. The TDP starts out at 160W. Other standard AMD features included are Smart Memory Access, Radeon Boost, Radeon Anti-Lag, and FidelityFX Super Resolution.

AMD expects the performance to fall somewhere between RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti. According to AMD’s testing on three Nvidia promoted games, 3 AMD promoted games, and agnostic titles, the RX 6600 XT outperformed Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB by 15 per cent. 

These titles include Battlefield 5, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Borderlands 3, and Resident Evil Village, Doom Eternal, Forza Horizon 4, Hitman 3, and Horizon Zero Dawn. 

It must be mentioned that ray tracing, DLSS, or FidelityFX Super Resolution were not enabled for these tests. 

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Price and Availability 

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT will be out on August 11, 2021, for a suggested starting price of $379 and will be available for desktops and laptops. AMD assures that people will be able to buy it at the launch price. There will of course be pricier custom options from AMD’s AIB partners as well.

Huawei P50 series launched with 50MP cameras and more: Specifications and features

Huawei has finally launched the P50 and P50 Pro smartphones in the Chinese market. The phones offer high-end specifications and also sport an interesting design. Interestingly, Huawei has launched the Pro model in two variants, with the first one powered by the company's own Kirin 9000 SoC while the other flaunting a Snapdragon 888 chipset possibly for international markets. 

On the other hand, the Huawei P50 only comes in a single Snapdragon 888 variant. The two phones also sport a ton of other features, however, both only offer 4G connectivity despite actually housing 5G-ready chips inside. The two phones also offer powerful cameras, with the P50 Pro sporting a quad-lens set-up while the P50 getting a three-camera system.

Talking about the specifications, Huawei P50 Pro brings with itself a 6.6-inch full-HD+ OLED display with curves on both sides and support for up to 120Hz refresh rate. There's also support for a 300Hz touch sampling rate and the display provides a 450ppi pixel density and covers the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut.  

Under the hood, it comes with two processor options, the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. This has been paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. This can also be expanded using an SD card. For cameras, the Huawei Huawei P50 Pro gets a quad lens set-up that includes a 50-megapixel primary colour lens with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation. This is sat next to a 40-megapixel monochrome lens with f/1.6 aperture, and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, as well as a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with f/3.5 aperture. The phone's cameras support 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. For selfies, we have a 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture.

The new Huawei P50 Pro is backed by a 4,360mAh battery with 66W Wired Super Fast Charge and 50W Wireless Super Fast Charge. The phone also supports wireless reverse charging.

This one is the more modest of the two offerings. It comes with a slightly smaller 6.5-inch full-HD+ OLED display with up to a 90Hz refresh rate. The other specs are same as the other display as it also flaunts a 458ppi pixel density and support for DCI-P3 wide colour gamut. As mentioned above, the phone is only available in a single Snapdragon 888 SoC variant which is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. 

The triple camera setup on Huawei P50 is interesting on paper. It has a primary 50-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 13-megapixel lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. It supports 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom. Lights here are kept on by a 4,100mAh battery with 66W Wired Super Fast Charge. The phone is IP68-rated water and dust resistant.

WhatsApp will soon allow users to move chats from iOS to Android: Report

WhatsApp has reportedly been working on adding a means for users to transfer their chat history across platforms from iOS to Android devices. This should address one of the major annoyances of the messaging app that currently allows users to seamlessly transfer their chat backup only from iOS to iOS or from Android to Android smartphones.  

WABetaInfo reveals that this chat history migration will be possible both ways - from iOS to Android and also from Android to iOS. Though the latest screenshots only depict the “move chats to Android” feature for transfer from iOS to Android.

Once live, iOS users will be able to access the feature from Settings > Chats > Move Chats to Android. They will also need to unlock their phones and keep WhatsApp open while the chat history is backed up and transferred. 

XDA Developers have found code in Google’s upcoming “Switch to Android” app for iOS that hints at the integration of this upcoming WhatsApp tool. Apple already has a “Switch to iOS” app that helps users seamlessly migrate their data from Android to an iPhone. This direct integration within Google’s tool is bound to make things simpler. 

Earlier this month, WhatsApp officially added multi-device support in beta that allows WhatsApp to work on the web and desktop without being leashed to a phone. Unfortunately, users still aren’t allowed to install and use Whatsapp on multiple phones simultaneously. 

There is no timeline for when the Move chats to Android feature will be pushed officially, but since WABetaInfo already has screenshots of the tool in action, it shouldn’t take too long.

Poco X3 launched globally with MediaTek Dimensity 1100 SoC and more will not come to India

It has barely been a few days since Poco launched the F3 GT in India, and now, the company has launched another GT model, the Poco X3 GT. While this is a global variant, it has already been confirmed to not launch in India. As per reports, Poco India Country Director Anuj Sharma has said that the company has no plans to launch the device in India. According to Poco, the decision has been taken to avoid any confusion with its portfolio. 

As for the device, the Poco X3 GT comes with a punch-hole camera, a rear camera module and a side-mounted fingerprint, and a textured rear panel. Apart from this, the Poco X3 GT comes with a fast MediaTek Dimensity 1100 SoC and a big battery with support for 67W fast-charging.

Poco X3 GT: Specificatons

Talking about the hardware of the device, the X3 GT is a phone that offers a 6.6-inch FHD+ LCD display that also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display is capable of 1100 nits brightness is covered using a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. 

Under the hood, we have a MediaTek Dimensity 1100 SoC which has been paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. This storage can also be expanded via a microSD card. Apart from this, the phone runs on Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 custom skin out of the box and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast-charging support.

Other specifications of the phone include triple cameras at the back of which the primary lens is a 64MP sensor, the secondary an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and to complete the list we have a 2MP macro lens for close-up shots. There's also a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. Apart from this, there's a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security, a VC Liquid cooling solution, and JBL powered dual stereo speakers. 

Poco X3 GT has been launched at USD 200 (approx Rs 22,200) for the base 8GB/128GB variant and will be available in Black, White, and Green colour options across countries in Southeast Asia, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.

Apple says chip shortage could impact iPhone production in Q4, 2021

Apple posted record third-quarter results but it also forecasts a slow down moving forward on account of the worsening impact of chip shortage that is already affecting Macs and iPads and will extend to iPhone production in the fourth quarter. 

During a call to investors, Chief Executive Tim Cook said that the older chips are affected by shortage but these are still needed as supporting parts to make iPhones. 

Tim declined to comment on whether the impact of chip shortage would continue in the first quarter of the next fiscal year. Angelo Zino, an analyst with research firm CFRA, said Apple could be stockpiling chips for its upcoming iPhones at the expense of the existing ones.

Apple said that the revenue for Q4 will still see double-digit growth, but not as much to match the 36.4% growth in the last quarter. Apple will soon release new iPhones, Apple Watch, and AirPods and these should hopefully bolster the revenue during the next quarter. 

It must also be noted that the Cupertino giant made a similar prediction of revenue being hit due to chip shortage to its investors in the last quarter, but the impact so far has been significantly lower than expected.

Apple Q3 Results 

Apple shared remarkable Q3 results, riding on better-than-expected revenue from iPhone sales. The iPhone review went up by almost 50% totalling $39.57 billion, with China raking in record numbers.

Mac and iPad sales increased year on year as well. Macs made $8.24 billion in revenue and iPad made another 7.37 billion. Revenue from other products that include AirPods and the Apple Watch saw a 40% increase YoY, bring in a revenue of $8.77 billion. Apart from hardware, services accounted for $17.48 billion, a 33% growth YoY.

Nokia XR20 is a tough phone meant to last for years: Price and details

HMD Global has launched a new tough smartphone, the Nokia XR20, that flaunts some appeasing durability credentials without giving up the semblance of being a normal phone. Apart from the XR20, HMD Global also presented Nokia C30, a budget Android Go phone, Nokia 6310 feature phone, and a few earphones. 

Exactly how tough are we talking? 

Well, the Nokia XR20 is MIL-STD 810H certified and enjoys 1.8m drop protection. The display is shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus, which Nokia says is twice as scratch-resistant as compared to the Gorilla Glass 6. The handset brandishes IP68 dust and water resistance, which implies that it can withstand submersion in fresh water for up to an hour. The phone is resilient enough to survive exposure to extreme temperatures ranging between -25°C and 55°C. 

This hardware durability is bolstered by the assurance of software longevity. XR20 ships with Android 11 out of the box and promises 3 years of version updates and 4 years of monthly security updates. Last but not the least, the phone ships with a 2-year warranty.

Nokia XR20 Price and Availability 

Nokia XR20 is up for pre-order in the US and UK in Ultra Blue and Granite colour options and will hit retail shelves by the end of August. In the UK, the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage option will cost £449 (roughly Rs. 39,402) and the 4GB RAM/ 64GB variant will be available for £399 (roughly Rs. 25,220). In the US, only the 6GB RAM/ 128GB variant will be available for $550 (roughly Rs. 40,915). There's no word on the India availability as of yet. 

Nokia XR20 Specifications and Features

Nokia XR20 is pretty manageable for an archetypal tough phone. It measures 10.64mm in thickness and weighs 248 grams - stats no longer as revolting as they would have perhaps been a couple of years ago. 

The 6.67-inch LCD display has a 20:9 aspect ratio and FHD resolution (1080 x 2400). The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s 8nm process-based Snapdragon 480 (two Cortex-A76 @ 2.0GHz + six Cortex-A55 @ 1.8GHz) paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s also the option for adding secondary storage using the microSD card slot. 

As for the cameras, the primary sensor is a 48MP Samsung GM1 with an f/1.7 lens on top. The second sensor is a 13MP ultra-wide snapper, and the camera module has Zeiss branding. The 8MP front camera is housed within a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout. 

The XR20 houses a 4310mAh battery with 18W wired and 15W Qi wireless charging. 

The Nokia XR20 has stereo speakers, retains a 3.5mm audio jack, has a dedicated Google Assistant button, and clubs the fingerprint sensor with the side power key. Connectivity options include 5G, NFC, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.1, and WiFi 802.11.b/g/n/ac

There's also an event scheduled on Xiaomi's website in India with August 3 as the date. There's also a timer counting down to the scheduled event with a little over 7 days left now. Looking at the teasers and promo materials on the website, it looks like this is going to be an entry-level laptop suited for students and working professionals.

Xiaomi hasn't mentioned anything about the laptop itself, so it remains to be exactly which variant of the RedmiBook we end up getting here in India. If we were to guess, then we will most likely be getting the RedmiBook 15. The company recently launched that particular notebook in Indonesia and it's the only RedmiBook that has launched outside China.

The RedmiBook 15, for those of you who don't know, sports a 15.6-inch FHD display and is powered by an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 processor along with 8GB RAM. The chassis is relatively thin and light weighing in at 1.8Kg and it measures 19.9mm in thickness. The laptop also comes with a webcam on top of the display as well.

Realme flash tipped to launch as first Android phone with magnetic wireless charging

Realme is reportedly working on a new phone which will be called the Realme Flash. The information comes courtesy of a new report by GSMArena, and also reveals key details about the phone. 

As per the report, this phone will be the first Android smartphone in the world to come with support for magnetic charging as it will come with Realme MagDart. Interestingly, this is also expected to launch alongside the new phone. 

The report explains that this will be similar to Apple’s MagSafe tech, as Realme MagDart will clip onto the back of the phone and charge the device. However, Realme’s MagDart is bigger in size than Apple's MagSafe and includes a fan to keep the thermals in check. The report also adds that the charging speeds will be more than 15W and that Realme's MagDart will be the fastest magnetic charger in the world once it launches. Apart from this, the charger will also bring with it a USB-C connector. 

As for the phone, there are few details available about the device, with the Realme Flash reportedly set to feature a curved screen with a punch-hole cutout in the top-left corner of the display.  This cutout will house the front-facing camera of the phone. Under the hood, the phone will reportedly come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The back of the phone will feature a triple-camera setup and is expected to come running Android 11-based Realme UI on top.
