Boat Smart Ring specifications tipped: Would you buy a Smarting over Smartwatch

Boat confirmed its new category of products a while back, which is Smart Ring. The Smart Ring is exactly what it sounds like. Just like smartwatches, it can be used to track your health status. You can also wear it to gear up your fashion game, and some people prefer to wear rings and not wrist watches, so this could be a great thing for them. Additionally, you can use it daily as it comes with 5 ATM water and sweat resistance.

Mukul Sharma, a known tipster, has provided some details of the boAt Smart Ring on X (formerly Twitter). The pictures in the tweet described its specifications. As I mentioned above, the Smart Ring is set to incorporate multiple health sensors commonly seen on smartwatches. It features a heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, sleep tracker, and even a period tracker. Intriguingly, there's a possibility that it might also offer compatibility with a body temperature monitoring feature.

Noise beats its competition to the punch with the all-new Luna smart ring

Noise Luna ring has launched in India. It has smart abilities like tracking your sleep health, heart rate and blood oxygen count. You can pre-order it for ₹2,000. Here are more details about the product including its specifications, key features, competition and availability.

Why Noise Luna Ring when there are plenty of smartwatches and bands in the market?

The Luna Ring is a lightweight ring with an aluminium build and a diamond finish. It is only 3mm wide and has got 5ATM water resistance. The company claims it is skin friendly too. You can pick it up in 7 sizes and 5 colours.

It connects with your smartphone via BLE 5.0. You can run it on phones with either iOS 14 and above or Android 6 and above. You just have to install the Noisefit app on the phone to control the ring’s settings and see the stats.

Speaking of stats, using the Luna ring, you can keep track of 70+ health metrics including heart rate, SpO2, sleep, body temperature, etc.

It is rated to last for 7 days on a 60-minute charge.

Noise Luna Ring

If you’re thinking why a ring when there are plenty of smartwatches and fitness bands out there, it is because a ring is more personal and you are likely to wear it always up and close, unlike a watch or band.

Sorry for any confusion here. We do not yet ship to India because we do not have the approval to import hardware components unique to Gen3 in this country. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

— ŌURA (@ouraring) April 19, 2022

Noise is not the only brand in this business. You may have heard of Oura Rings, but unfortunately, that is not available in the country yet. So, Noise has got no serious competition yet. Also unlike some of its other competitors which are either just announced or are only in the patent application stage, the Noise ring is available for pre-order now.

WhatsApp on Wear OS is a big deal with perhaps small inconveniences

More than two months since it debuted in beta, WhatsApp on Wear OS is finally available for the public now. You can install it from the Play Store on your Wear OS 3-powered watch or through the connected smartphone. Here’s how to install it. We have tried it and here’s what we think.

Install WhatsApp on Wear OS: Step-by-step guide

Before we begin, note that this works on Wear OS 3 watches only and so Wear OS 2 and other legacy smartwatches aren’t supported. With that out of the way, let’s start.

1. You could either push the download to your Wear OS smartwatch from the Play Store on your connected smartphone or download it right from the Play Store on your watch. If you want WhatsApp Wear OS apk, you can also download WhatsApp Messenger (Wear OS) 2.23.14.81 from apkmirror or similar trusted sources.

2. Once it is installed on the watch, tap on the WhatsApp icon on the smartwatch’s app drawer.

3. Open it and you will be shown a string of codes that you have to enter into WhatsApp on your phone. This links/pairs WhatsApp on both devices.

Also Read: WhatsApp a stranger without saving their contact is now easier than ever

4. Now, when you receive a WhatsApp notification on your watch, below the message, you will see an option to Open on Watch. Clicking this opens the message within the WhatsApp Messenger on the watch. You can read it and reply to it via text or audio. Beneath the message, you’ll see the buttons to record a voice response or the keyboard to type out the reply.

5. You can also straight up open the WhatsApp app from the watch’s app library and get a list of recent contacts (in the order it appears on the phone version). Tap on the one you like to chat with and continue the conversation. You can also see the entire conversation history and not just the recent message.

The app also lets you continue the conversation on the phone. You just have to tap on the option called Open on Phone.

WhatsApp

There is a complication that shows the unread message count and it works in Always On mode too. Additionally, you get a tile named WhatsApp Contacts to quickly start a textual conversation and another tile called WhatsApp Voice Messages to send voice notes to people from recent chats right away.

This may not be the full-fledged WhatsApp experience that you get on your phone yet, but it is close and has the essential features to prove very useful to Wear OS users. You don’t have to take out the phone always. Especially if you are in a situation wherein you can’t easily access the phone, this can come in handy.

Also Read: WhatsApp conversations will be more personal and engaging thanks to this new update

If your watch supports cellular connectivity, the app works standalone over LTE on the watch. That’s even better.

But, typing on the small keyboard is a hassle for sure, especially if you have big fingers.

Also, readability could be a problem for some. You may not find the interface as intuitive as it is on the bigger screen phone.

So, there are trade-offs but we think the positives outweigh these minor inconveniences. In other words, we are glad that we can finally have quick and brief WhatsApp interactions on the wrist itself. Thanks, Meta!

Garmin Instinct 2X Solar launched to lure Apple fans and heres why it may be successful

Garmin Instinct 2X Solar and Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition are now available in India. These are incremental upgrades to the Instinct 2 Solar models that launched last year. However, people are likely to appreciate them. Even Apple fans!

Let’s see what are these new features of the Instinct 2X Solar series:

What are the new features of Garmin Instinct 2X Solar?

Garmin Instinct 2X Solar has a bigger 1.1-inch screen with a 176x176 pixel resolution. The display has a “two-window design” that includes 2 non-touch, monochrome, memory-in-pixel (MIP) layers.  The on-screen elements should appear clearer.

The screen sits in an apparently more durable case since the watch is MIL-STD-810-rated for "thermal, shock and water resistance."

The Instinct 2X Solar must be more accurate in navigational tracking since it supports the ability to lock into multiple satellite systems at a time. So, even if there are some form of signal jammers or barriers, it should be able to catch a GPS frequency more quickly.

There is also a gyroscope in the mix that promises "improved swim feature performance, improved rep counting (gym activities), and improved distance and direction calculations when GPS is off (when using UltraTrac mode)."

The onboard storage is also up to 64 gigs while the predecessor has only 32GB.

You also get 10ATM water resistance, up to 40-day battery life in smartwatch mode or up to 60 hours in GPS mode, real-time notifications from the connected phone, built-in GPS connectivity, JumpMaster mode for skydivers, and trackers for heart rate, pulse oximeter, sleep, and women's health.

CS:GO Paris Major 2023: Apeks lead the charts as Day 1 of the Challengers stage comes to a close

Day 1 of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 packed all the action that the fans could demand from the last Major tournament of the game. There were surprises, upsets, and everything that makes CS:GO the fan-favourite eSport that it is. As we had prefaced in our article yesterday, the first day of the Challengers stage held a lot of importance for the teams as they looked to get off the blocks with their guns blazing. And, while some teams were up to speed right away, the others had to toil hard to get things started.

Paris Major 2023 Challengers stage - Day 1 - Perfect balance of emotions and competition

The first match of the day had FaZe Clan facing off against Monte. At the start of the game, FaZe looked like a shadow of their former selves that had been crowned the Major Champions exactly a year ago. But, as the game went on, they recovered and showed the world that they are here to stay. After staging a comeback against Monte, they were pitted against paiN Gaming, and sealed a 16-12 win. Monte, on the other hand, after having a rough start to their campaign, faced off against Fluxo. There the team that at one point gave FaZe a run for their money, proved their mettle by defeating Fluxo with a convincing 8-16 scoreline in their favour.

Before getting their dreams handed to them on a copper platter by FaZe, paiN gaming, in their first game of the day, had faced off against Fluxo, defeating them 16-2. The other games of the day had G2 defeating TheMongolz 16-11. Complexity twisting GamerLegion’s arms into a 16-11 win, and Grayhound, out of nowhere, defeating Forze by a two-point margin, 14-16 in their favour.

Apeks asked the hopes and dreams of North American CS to sit down as they romped past a rather meak-looking Team Liquid to seal their first win of the Challengers stage. After having a rather eventful run the RMR stages, Ninjas in Pyjamas, trumped over Mouz, winning the game 16-9. The match between OG and ENCE was something that set the tone for the end of the day. OG were thrashed by ENCE, who raced home with a 6-16 win. G2, also added to their tally of wins, by evening out Complexity’s win-to-loss ratio as their game ended 9-16 in G2’s favour.

Doubling down on their win against Team Liquid, Apeks gave us the first flawless map of the tournament, when they defeated Grayhound gaming 16-0. Greyhound’s win, followed by a loss was met with mixed reactions on Twitter as it had a massive impact on the Pick ‘ems of players across the globe, potentially costing them a chance at the Diamond coin. ENCE continued on their run of form, racing home with a 16-9 win against NiP.

What a day to start the BLAST. tv Major off with, and tomorrow looks even more exciting as we'll find our first eliminations and new Legends #BLASTTVMajor pic.twitter.com/eK5FWrnnmW

— BLAST.tv (@BLASTtv) May 8, 2023

At the time of writing, four more matches had been played on effectively the second day of the Challengers stage. We had OG beat MOUZ (11-16), FORZE winning against Team Liquid who have one step already in de_airport, TheMongolz bouncing back to winning ways against GamerLegion, and Monte, registering a 16-8 win against Fluxo.

As it stands, here’s how things look in terms of team standings in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 –

Paris major 2023 points table challengers stage day 1

With two more days to go in the Challengers stage, an surprise wins and upsets being the motto of tournament so far, the lines are rather blurred. However, as it stands, if Apeks, Faze, G3, and ENCE are able to continue their run of form into the coming games, it looks like they are all set to make it past into the Legends stage.

Here's a look at the schedule for Day 2 of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 Challengers stage –

Samsung One UI 5 Watch revealed: Top features explained

Samsung's One UI 5 OS for Watches has been in talks for quite a while now. So, finally Samsung made an official announcement of the smartwatch OS. With the announcement of the OS, its features have also been revealed and how it is better than its predecessors.

Let's have a look at the areas of change and new features that come with the smartwatch OS- Samsung One UI 5.

Features of the Samsung One UI 5 Watch

Samsung revealed that their smartwatch OS would bring in improvements in three sectors- sleep tracking, activity tracking and user safety. So, what are these improvements which the OS has made than its predecessors?

One UI 5 Watch will bring in a sleep score for every night, taking into consideration the sleep phases, snoring and blood oxygen level. This would help users in reconstructing their sleeping schedule and have healthy sleeping habits. So, the smartwatches with the new OS will automatically have the sleep coaching on to keep your sleep cycles in place.

Another very useful feature of the OS is its Smart-things incorporation. So this feature allows the Samsung smartwatch to detect when you are asleep and immediately disconnect with the connected devices to help you have a sound sleep.

Samsung

This new OS is all about keeping you healthy. So, this comes with a feature which allows calculation of personalised heart rate zones while running. The OS will also bring in a calculator for five workout intensity levels- warm-up, fat burning, cardio, hard train and max effort. This would notify the users what would be the right time to stop working out so that you do not cause yourself any sort of pain or trouble.

This One UI 5 Watch also brings in a more efficient SOS feature which would allow direct communication with the emergency services that would provide them the user's location as well as all your medical history. Also, there will also be a feature that would detect if anybody falls especially for people above 55.

So, there are certain phones that would only connect with the new smartwatch OS. But, talking about smartwatches, this OS will have a beta version later this month for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series will be launched with the new OS in it and will be the first smartwatch to support it.

Apple working on emotion measuring tech, health services with advanced AI

In the area of health and wellness, Apple Inc. is renowned for its revolutionary products and services. The business has a history of developing tools and apps that aid in tracking health and even saving lives. Apple is currently expanding the capabilities of AI once more.

According to reports, the corporation is working on technologies for measuring emotions as well as a new health counselling service powered by artificial intelligence. With the help of these new capabilities, users will be able to take a more detailed and individualised strategy for their health and well-being.

Apple is ready to launch a new coaching service codenamed Quartz, says Bloomberg report. The service will primarily work on motivating users to exercise and prompt healthy eating habits and sleep cycles. The fundamental idea of working on this program is to establish a combination of machine learning and data to build a personalised training program for individual users. However, these announcements are yet to be released and can be anticipated in the coming week.

Also read: iOS 17 will support app sideloading on iPhone, thanks to EU law

Apple has announced plans to create an innovative health coaching service as part of a larger initiative to integrate health features into all of its products, including the Apple Watch. The business's most recent initiatives in this regard include bringing health software to the iPad and adding capabilities that can help users with eyesight issues.

Apple

However, Apple's new internal service will have a monthly cost and have an app of its own. The effort is being led by a number of Apple departments, including the company's services division, health, Siri, and AI teams. Although the service is now scheduled for next year, it could eventually be cancelled or delayed.

A version of Apple's iPhone health software for the iPad is allegedly also being planned, enabling users to examine their health information, such as ECG findings, in an expanded format. Later this year, iPadOS 17 is expected to include this modification. In medical facilities, wherein tablets are already commonly used, the iPad's rendition of the health app is intended to improve the app's appeal.

According to the source, Apple may update its health app this year with additional features for treating vision disorders, including nearsightedness and tracking emotions. Users of the emotion tracker's first iteration will be able to record their moods, provide answers to questions about their days, and monitor their progress over time. Apple plans to utilise algorithms in the future to infer a user's mood from their speech, their written words, and other information on their devices.

In June, during Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, it's expected to introduce a new iPad app as well as tools for controlling vision and emotion. The training service won't be revealed this year, though. The company's planned mixed-reality headgear, which includes features like meditation and an optimised variant of Apple's Fitness+ fitness service, will also play a part in its well-being and health agenda.

Instagrams Quiet Mode might actually let you sleep at night

Instagram is introducing Quiet Mode, a feature that allows users to temporarily silence push notifications and sends automatic replies to messages received during this time. Teen users will be prompted to turn on Quiet Mode when they spend a certain amount of time on the app during the late night hours, though the specific time frame and duration have not been specified.

Quiet Mode How will Instagram’s Quiet mode work?

Instagram will also display the status on the user's profile indicating that Quiet Mode is active, and provide a summary of missed notifications upon return to the app. Users can also schedule specific times for the feature to automatically turn on.

This feature is being added as Instagram faces criticism for its effects on the mental health of teens, particularly teenage girls. This move is part of the company's ongoing efforts to improve the safety of its younger users, which includes tightening default content settings for teens and restricting how advertisers can target them.

Instagram What is Instagram’s “not interested button” feature?

Instagram is also expanding on its "not interested button" feature, which allows users to flag certain types of content they do not want to see. Users will now be able to hide more than one piece of content on the Explore page, which the platform will aim to avoid showing in Reels and search.

Additionally, users can now add a list of words, hashtags, or emojis to avoid in recommended content captions, similar to the way they can hide DMs with unwanted words.

Instagram is taking inspiration from TikTok with its increased focus on Reels and recommended content, however, it is ahead of TikTok in some safety aspects such as the Quiet Mode feature and setting time limits on the app. TikTok is testing a prompt that allows users to set up sleep reminders and mute notifications during sleep, which may be a feature Instagram will introduce in the future.
