Google disables online translation service in mainland China

San Francisco, Oct 1 (IANS) Google has disabled its online translation service in mainland China owing to "low usage", and redirected people to the Hong Kong domain which isn't accessible for users from within the country.

Several users reported on Reddit and other social media platforms that Google China Translate service became inaccessible, hampering their work.

"Today, at least 10 hours ago, translate.google.cn became inaccessible, I found this based on an automated test accessing it failing. It redirects to a normal Google search. translate.google.hk still accessible," one user posted on Reddit late on Friday.

A Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company has discontinued Google Translate in mainland China "due to low usage".

Another affected user posted: "Yes. Google is shutting down translate CN. It will redirect to the HK site permanently."

Earlier, Google had terminated its controversial China search engine project, named Dragonfly.

The controversial Chinese search engine raised privacy, censorship, and human rights concerns.

Google's offices in the US, UK, Canada, India, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Sweden, Switzerland, and Denmark witnessed protests by human rights groups over its plan to re-enter China through "Project Dragonfly".

The search engine giant had launched a search engine in China in 2006 but pulled the service out of the country in 2010, citing Chinese government efforts to limit free speech and block websites.

Intel Reveals Arc A770 GPU price and availability

Intel today announced that the Arc A770 limited edition would be launched on October 12th. Its CEO, Pat Gelsinger also revealed the pricing of A770, which features a full ACM-G10 GPU with 32 Xe-Cores and either 8GB to 16GB memory. The model will cost 329 USD (~₹ 26,784.22). However, it is believed that it must be for the 8GB model, while the cost for its limited edition model that features 16GB is yet to be announced. Only one out of the three GPUs was announced today, the other two are A380 and the A750. The A770 supports XeSS, Intel's AI-based image reconstruction and sampling techniques. It also has 32Xe Cores and ray tracing units.

Intel A770 GPU specs and features

Intel Arc a770 GPU

Intel claims that its GPU offers up to 65% better peak performance versus competing products (presumably NVIDIA RTX 3060 series) in ray tracing. In addition, A770 features a full complement of 32 Xe Cores and ray tracing units.

Unfortunately, there is no information on A750 or A580 GPU availability yet, not to mention their prices. Ryan Shrout, the face behind Arc Alchemist's marketing campaign, confirmed that we would hear more about A750 GPU later this week. Furthermore, Pat Gelsinger confirmed that A770 LE is now shipping to reviewers.

Intel and its retail and retail partners will sell the Limited Edition. The company released these new pictures presenting the packaging we have seen in the teasers for the past few months. While the A770 will not be competing with NVIDIA's or AMD's high-end GPUs, it is priced to compete when it comes to performance value.

Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S23 5K renders and design revealed: Check out the phone from different angles

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S23 series early next year, but ahead of its launch, Digit is bringing you an exclusive first look at one of the phones from the upcoming flagship series from the company. In partnership with popular tipster OnLeaks, Digit now brings you the full 360 degrees 5K renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23. This leak not only takes the lid off the design of the phone and the new camera arrangement on the back of the device but also reveals the phone's exact dimensions.

Samsung Galaxy S23: Design leaked

Earlier, we had come across rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S23 could only get a minor increase in dimensions over its predecessor, and now, OnLeaks has put his weight behind such claims, by revealing the dimensions of the phone. According to the leak, the phone will be slightly bigger – roughly 146.3 x 70.8 x 7.6 mm in size – compared to the Samsung Galaxy S22. The renders also reveal that the Galaxy S23 will use the exact same design as the Galaxy S22, minus the camera module we saw last year.

Instead, the phone will come with an updated rear camera design that's inspired by the Galaxy S22 Ultra. This translates to three cameras placed on the back panel resting on their individual islands without an encompassing fence or bump. However, that's all we know about the cameras for now, as there is no word on the rear camera internals at the moment.

Coming to the front, the renders suggest the phone will flaunt slightly broader bezels than before, with the display still the same size. According to the information shared by OnLeaks, the S23 display will be 6.1-inches diagonally. Again, no confirmation, but this display will likely refresh at 120Hz. The renders also reveal that the display will have a centrally located punch-hole, which according to previous rumours, could house a 12MP shooter.

Galaxy S23: Expected Specifications

As for the other internals, we don't really have any confirmation at the moment. However, leaks in the past have given us some idea about the phone. Under the hood, the phone could come fitted with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, plenty of RAM and a 5 per cent bigger battery pack than we saw on the Galaxy S22.

For now, this is all we know about the upcoming Galaxy S23. However, keep following this space for all the latest on the device. For more technology news, product reviews, sci-tech features and updates, keep reading Digit.in.

Some customers also complained that their refunds were taking a longer time on orders placed during the ongoing "Big Billion Day" sale. A few also tweeted that they received fake handsets although their claims could not be corroborated.

The company said in a statement that "a minor fraction of orders (less than 3 per cent of all orders) have been cancelled by sellers due to anomalies".

"As a customer-focused e-commerce marketplace, we encourage sellers to prioritise the customers' orders and strive to keep them delighted with their service," a company spokesperson said.

Flipkart said that close to "70 per cent of all iPhone orders placed across cities including Guntur, Gorakhpur, and Siliguri have been successfully delivered by the sellers".

An affected customer said in a tweet: "Booked iPhone 13 during theA Big Billion Day Sale & was eagerly waiting for the delivery. The product was cancelled by the seller/Flipkart without any explanation".

Another iPhone 13 buyer said: "This order was shipped yesterday, supposed to be delivered today. Cancelled at the last minute without my consent".

Watch the NASA DART mission whereby a spacecraft hits an asteroid: Find out what happened and why

After 10 months of flying in space, NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) -- the world's first planetary defence technology demonstration -- successfully impacted its asteroid target, the agency's first attempt to move an asteroid in space.

Mission control at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, announced the successful impact at 7.14 p.m. EDT on Monday.

"At its core, DART represents an unprecedented success for planetary defence, but it is also a mission of unity with a real benefit for all humanity," NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, said in a statement.

"As NASA studies the cosmos and our home planet, we are also working to protect that home, and this international collaboration turned science fiction into science fact, demonstrating one way to protect Earth," Nelson added.

As a part of NASA's overall planetary defence strategy, DART's impact with the asteroid Dimorphos demonstrates a viable mitigation technique for protecting the planet from an Earth-bound asteroid or comet.

DART targeted the asteroid moonlet Dimorphos, a small body just 530 feet (160 meters) in diameter. It orbits a larger, 2,560-foot (780-meter) asteroid called Didymos. Neither asteroid poses a threat to Earth.

The mission's one-way trip confirmed NASA can successfully navigate a spacecraft to intentionally collide with an asteroid to deflect it, a technique known as kinetic impact.

The investigation team will now observe Dimorphos using ground-based telescopes to confirm that DART's impact altered the asteroid's orbit around Didymos.

Researchers expect the impact to shorten Dimorphos' orbit by about 1 per cent, or roughly 10 minutes; precisely measuring how much the asteroid was deflected is one of the primary purposes of the full-scale test.

Twitter to dispose Musk ahead of October trial: Here are some recent developments in this saga

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is set to depose before the Twitter lawyers earlier this week in the $44 billion takeover deal that he has terminated.

The deposition is slated for September 26-27 and may run into September 28 if needed, according to court filings, reports Benzinga.

The deposition, ahead of the full-blown October 17 legal trial in the Delaware Court of Chancery in the US, will not be a public one.

Earlier, in a minor win for Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a US court allowed his legal team to make a case that a $7.75 million severance payment to Peiter 'Mudge' Zatko, Twitter's former head of security, allows him to terminate the $44 billion takeover deal.

Judge Kathleen McCormick ruled last week that Musk can amend his counterclaims to include the payment to Zatko.

The ruling means that Musk can use the Zatko payment for his argument regarding terminating the deal. Twitter did not oppose the motion, Barron's had reported.

Twitter is also seeking if there is a connection between its former head of security and Musk.

Musk has said that the testimony of Twitter whistleblower justifies his termination of the $44 billion deal to buy the micro-blogging platform.

Twitter shareholders had voted to approve the buyout by Musk amid the legal battle.

Apple iPhone 14 assembly begins at Foxconn facility in India, but what about other iPhones

Apple has begun assembling its new iPhone 14 at the Foxconn facility in India, a first in years when a new iPhone is being assembled within weeks of its global launch in the country, the tech giant confirmed on Monday.

The locally-assembled iPhone 14 will go on sale in the country in the fourth quarter, as the company bolsters its local manufacturing.

Foxconn is assembling the new iPhone 14 at its Sriperumbudur facility near Chennai.

"The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities. We're excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India," Apple said in a statement.

The tech giant first started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with iPhone SE.

The tech giant manufactures some of its most advanced iPhones in the country, including iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, at the Foxconn facility, while iPhone SE and iPhone 12 are being assembled at the Wistron factory in the country.

As India doubles down on local manufacturing of technology products, Apple is likely to move 5 per cent of its new iPhone 14 production to India by the end of this year, and 25 per cent by 2025, according to a JP Morgan analysis.

Analysts have earlier predicted that Apple has shortened the production period of its new iPhones in India this year, barely six weeks or so from the production cycle in China.

Next year, Apple iPhone 15 may see its production at the Foxconn and Wistron manufacturing facilities in India at the exact production time with China.

"India's iPhone supply chain has historically supplied only legacy models. Interestingly, Apple has requested that EMS vendors manufacture iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India in 4Q22, within two to three months of the start of production in Mainland China," according to the JP Morgan report.

"The much shorter interval implies the increasing importance of India production and likely higher iPhone allocations to India manufacturing in the future," the report noted.

"We believe Apple only produces iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India now due to the more complex camera module alignment of the iPhone Pro series (done by EMS vendors) and higher local market demand for the iPhone 14 series (tax savings)," it added.

Buoyed by the ease-of-doing business and friendly local manufacturing policies, Apple's 'Make in India' iPhones will potentially account for close to 85 per cent of its total iPhone production for the country this year.

Samsung phones may come with dual under-display cameras for facial recognition in the future: How it could work

South Korean tech giant Samsung is likely working on a camera system for facial recognition that involves two under-display cameras.

According to GSMArena, it is described in a patent application Samsung filed with the KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service) back in March 2021. The document in question was made public last week and picked up by a Dutch publication.

At its core, the idea is relatively straightforward -- get multiple images of the user from two angles to better construct a 3D model of the face and use that for authentication purposes.

The tech giant mentioned using under-display cameras, though, which is interesting in its own right. Up until now, it has more or less just experimented with the technology on its Galaxy Fold line without a broader release, the report said.

The patent does not really go into so much detail. However, it does show a mockup of a regular "slab" style phone with two UDC cameras -- one at the top and one at the bottom. Another thing mentioned in the patent is measuring pupil size.

As per the report, the idea is that a human's pupil size should vary depending on lighting conditions.

This could be used as an extra security measure against using things like photos or masks to trick facial authentication.

GTA 6 and Uber hacker reportedly caught by London police: Know details

As part of a UK's National Cyber Crime Unit investigation, a 17-year-old teenager was detained on suspicion of Rockstar Games hack that led to a major Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI leak.

According to the reports, the alleged hacker might have also been involved in an intrusion on ride-hailing service Uber.

"@CityPolice confirm 17-year-old arrested over hacking incident; source says the crime is related to intrusion on Rockstar Games and possibly Uber Technologies," prominent journalist Matthew Keys tweeted.

This month Uber has blamed the infamous Lapsus$ hacking group for the cyber attack on its internal systems recently.

Uber had also mentioned that "there are also reports that this same actor breached video game maker Rockstar Games".

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games' confirmed 'network intrusion' resulted in the leak of 90 videos of GTA VI, showcasing its engine, gameplay and more from an early development build.

The leak provided a glimpse into GTA 6 development, confirming prior reports of the series' first female protagonist and a Vice City setting.

The title, informally known as GTA 6, will mark the first mainline game since 2013's GTA V, having racked up a record-breaking 170 million sales to date.

Mozilla criticizes Google, Microsoft, and Apple for browser lock-ins: Here are the anti-competitive allegations raised by the Firefox-maker

Mozilla, the developer of Firefox Internet browser, has hit out at the trinity of Apple, Google and Microsoft, saying their operating systems make it very difficult for browsers like open source Firefox to be used on the platforms they control.

In a report, Mozilla said that these operating systems make it "difficult or impossible for a consumer to switch browsers," by setting the company's own browser as the default and in prime position on the home screen.

One of the ways Mozilla seeks to do this is through developing and investing in its own Gecko browser engine.

"This matters because there are only three main browser engine providers left: Google, Apple and Mozilla - but Apple's engine only runs on Apple devices. So, without Mozilla, the only cross-platform browser engine would be provided by Google," said the report.

"Putting the development of cross-platform web browsers in the hands of a single company creates not only a concentration of power, but also a single point of failure," it added.

The Mozilla Firefox browser had a 3.16 per cent market share worldwide in August.

Apple Safari and Microsoft Edge browsers have 18.78 per cent and 4.3 per cent market share, respectively.

The web browsing market is dominated by Google Chrome, at 65.52 per cent market share, according to web traffic analysis website StatCounter.

Mozilla said in its research report that even when an alternative browser is downloaded and selected as default, this decision is not applied in all circumstances.

"The operating system provider will in some scenarios bypass this decision and present their own browser rather than the selected default and in other cases it will seek to undermine or reverse this decision," it lamented.

Mozilla said that as Big Tech has so far failed to do better, "regulators, policymakers and lawmakers have spent considerable time and resources investigating digital markets".

"They should, therefore, be in a good position to recognise the importance of browser competition and to act to prevent further harm to consumers from continued inaction and competitive stagnation," the company said.

Mozilla called on them "to enforce the laws which already exist and the laws and regulations which will soon come into force".

Google Pixel 7 series prices are likely to be the same as Pixel 6 series: Find the expected pricing here

As Google prepares to launch its next Pixel 7 smartphone series, a new report claims that there will not be any price change from the Pixel 6 series.

Google has already confirmed that the next-generation Pixel 7 series will come to India, to be available on Flipkart.

Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii tweeted the prices for the upcoming devices -- $599 for the Pixel 7 and $899 for the Pixel 7 Pro.

"From a source I trust 100 per cent, here comes Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro US pricing, according to current data in Target's systems. First up, Pixel 7, codenamed Panther, $599, available in Snow, Obsidian, and Lemongrass colours," he said in a tweet.

"Pixel 7 Pro, codenamed Cheetah, will cost $899, available in Obsidian, Hazel, and Snow colours," he added.

For Pixel lovers, it is good news as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro were already priced really well and both the iPhone 14 and Samsung Galaxy S22 start at $799.

Reports say that Pixel 7 will have a 6.3-inch display, slightly smaller than the 6.4-inch screen available on the Pixel 6.

The Tensor G2 chipset will power the series, which is all set to launch on October 6. The new chipset will utilise the same CPU as the original Tensor.

The tech giant first teased the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at I/O in May, and is likely to launch the device next month, alongside the Pixel Watch.

Ear tips in new AirPods Pro incompatible with older model: Apple

New Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Apple has explained that new silicone ear tips with the second-generation AirPods Pro are not compatible with the older generation of AirPods Pro.

In a support document, the tech giant said the original AirPods Pro ear tips have "noticeably denser mesh" in comparison with the second-generation ear tips.

"Ear tips have been designed specifically for their AirPods Pro generation, to deliver the highest-fidelity audio experience," said the company.

As a result, "use the ear tips that come with your AirPods Pro".

The company explained the reason for this, saying that AirPods Pro (1st generation) ear tips have noticeably denser mesh than AirPods Pro (2nd generation) ear tips.

However, using older ear tips won't affect the sound or noise-cancellation quality on new AirPods.

The problem users will face is the proper fit in the ear with old tips owing to dense mesh.

With the new H2 chip, AirPods Pro, available in India for Rs 26,900, provides an exceptional acoustic experience and cancels up to twice as much noise over the previous generation AirPods Pro.

This time, a new extra small ear tip is included so even more people can experience the magic of AirPods Pro.

With a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier, AirPods Pro now offer richer bass and crystal-clear sound across a wider range of frequencies.

With Touch control on AirPods Pro, a light swipe up or down on the stem enables quick volume adjustments.

AirPods Pro offer 1.5 hours of additional listening time over the first generation, for a total of up to six hours with Active Noise Cancellation.

Sony may soon bring new PS5 model with Detachable Disc Drive

Tokyo, Sep 21 (IANS) Japanese tech giant Sony is reportedly working on a PlayStation 5 (PS5) model with Detachable Disc Drive.

According to GizmoChina, like the Microsoft Xbox Series X and Series S, the PlayStation 5 from Sony does not offer its latest generation of gaming consoles with different specs.

Although, it does offer one that lacks a physical disc drive. And now, a new report suggests that a third variant is on the way, the report said.

The Japanese tech giant has already been making minor changes to its latest generation of PS5 consoles. However, it seems like a new change might bring a drastic change in the new consoles' design.

The news arrives from Insider Gamingas Tom Henderson who revealed that Sony could be looking to refresh the physical design of the PlayStation 5. Apparently, the upcoming versions of PS5 might feature a detachable disc drive.

As per the report, the brand plans on releasing the PS5 with a detachable disc drive that will be connected to the console through a USB Type C port that is housed at the back.

The company usually launches new variants of its console every 3 to 4 years. So, it won't be surprising if the new PS5 model launches sometime within the next two years, the report noted.

But unlike a Slim or Pro variant, it seems that this time around the brand plans on bringing a detachable disc drive. This could also bring down the manufacturing cost for the PlayStation 5 and make it more affordable for buyers, it added.

GTA 6 leak memes and reactions: Heres how the public and video game industry reacted on Twitter to the Grand Theft Auto 6 footage leak

Over this last weekend, a massive GTA 6 leak revealed about 90 videos of the forthcoming game’s characters, gameplay, Vice City location, and more. Rockstar Games has confirmed the leak already. And here’s how the Twitterati reacted to a leak unlike any other.

Beginning with the comments of video game industry folks —

GTA 6 leak reactions

Some serious

Leaks aren't cool, or funny. Game devs work hard to make the best possible experiences, and we want everyone to enjoy them as intended. Wishing the world class devs at Rockstar support, can't wait to play your next masterpiece. https://t.co/zJrFMeTYek

— Brian Horton (@BrianHortonArt) September 19, 2022

My thoughts are with the team at @RockstarGames It can be disheartening to have a project you've worked hard on to delight fans revealed and critiqued before it’s ready. I know they’re creating something special and can’t wait to experience GTA6 when it's officially unveiled.

— BondSarahBond (@BondSarah_Bond) September 18, 2022

Dread to think what the Rockstar team is going through right now. Years of work are now being shredded, torn apart, analized, misunderstood, taken out of context, and memed. A destructive cycle games industry knows way too well. Help to make it better and don't engage with leaks.

— PaweÅ‚ Sasko (@PaweSasko) September 18, 2022

To my fellow devs out there affected by the latest leak, know that while it feels overwhelming right now, it’ll pass. One day we’ll be playing your game, appreciating your craft, and the leaks will be relegated to a footnote on a Wikipedia page. Keep pushing. Keep making art.

— Neil Druckmann (@Neil_Druckmann) September 18, 2022

this GTA 6 leak might be the biggest leak in gaming history, holy shit. but it's important to keep in mind the artists from rockstar are the ones that hurt the most; their unfinished work is now public before they got a chance to share it when it's ready. that sucks big time

— Elise Favis (@elisefavis) September 18, 2022

I feel like all leak discourse’s problems could be solved if we didn’t have such secretive culture on things that are in development. When I see a movie set being shot by some dude with a phone camera, I don’t go “Wow I thought they were going to use REAL cameras”

— Imran Khan (@imranzomg) September 19, 2022

To those who asked: There are several reasons this is a nightmare for Rockstar. One is that it'll disrupt work for a while. Another is that it may lead management to limit work-from-home flexibility. The repercussions of this leak might not be clear for quite a while

— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) September 18, 2022

The GTA 6 Leak proves that gamers have no idea about how game development works whatsoever  These homies are complaining that the game looks unfinished when it literally is…

— Lex (@MrTLexify) September 18, 2022

GTA 6 leak initially made me excited because I liked what I saw. Was dampened when people pointed out this steals the hype from the official trailer. Became just sad learning about the potential negative implications for the devs and game, especially with the source code leak

— DarkViperAU (@DarkViperAU) September 18, 2022

The GTA 6 leaks may very well be the worst leak in gaming history. If you think this is cause for celebration, understand that the hacker who perpetrated this has made the lives of developers a living nightmare and this incident will single handedly delay the long awaited game.

Fortnite season 4 brings chrome-powered abilities and Spider-Gwen skin: Heres all it brings

Fortnite's season four of chapter three will bring in a lot of new content to the video game, including chrome-powered abilities and Gwen from 'Into the Spider-Verse'.

According to Engadget, a new substance called Chrome is taking over the island, and users can use it to their advantage to gain a jump on other players.

Users can throw Chrome vials on walls to pass through them and at their feet to turn themselves into a blob that is faster and immune to fire and fall damage.

As a Chrome blob, users also gain the ability to air dash, allowing them to close distance on enemies quickly, the report said.

Chrome has changed the island too. Users will find a new point of interest called the Herald's Sanctum by the abandoned Sanctuary.

Other locations, such as Condo Canyon, now float in the air as they try to find safety from the substance. Smaller gameplay tweaks include a buff to sniper rifles.

The obvious highlight is Spider-Gwen, but there is also a nifty skater cat and what looks like a bear within a werewolf costume for players to unlock.

iPhone 14 Pro camera shaking issue is being reported by multiple users while using 3rd-party apps: Know whats happening

With the smartphone producing blurry and shaking footage, tech giant Apple's iPhone 14 Pro users report problems recording video in third-party apps with the camera.

According to AppleInsider, the tech giant's update to the iPhone 14 Pro includes several camera changes, including a 48MP sensor and an Action Mode to generate smooth video.

However, it seems the third-party apps that use the camera are encountering issues with the new hardware, the report said.

Several users discovered that the camera module was shaking when in use in apps, including Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok.

The issue was causing video recorded using the camera within the apps to be unpublishable, due to the constant erratic movement.

Posts on social media, including Reddit claim there to be a lot of jitters, believed to be a shaking of the optical image stabilization (OIS) system.

In the case of the iPhone 14 Pro, the 48MP Main camera has Apple's second-generation Sensor-Shift OIS, which physically moves the sensor, while the other uses an older and more conventional OIS system.

Some users claimed that they could see and hear the shaking and mechanical movement when they used the third-party app's camera features.

In one video demonstrating the issue, the iPhone was slightly moving and generating a grinding noise.

It is unknown how many iPhones could be affected by the issue. AppleInsider tried, and failed, to reproduce the bug independently, the report said.

Microsoft Teams gets language interpretation: Heres how it works

With an aim to make it more user-friendly, tech giant Microsoft has announced that its Teams meeting attendees can now have an interpreter in their preferred language.

The feature has been in testing for quite some time but is now generally available.

Meeting participants can set their preferred language and then listen to a meeting in that language, reports WindowsCentral.

The feature allows meeting organisers to have professional interpreters translate meetings in real-time. Attendees can set their preferred language when they join a meeting and should hear the interpreter's translation at a louder volume than the speaker.

Microsoft outlined the key features of language interpretation, which include listening to a meeting in the language they are most comfortable using, collaborating in meetings where multiple languages are spoken, etc.

As per the report, language interpretation joined a growing list of Teams features to overcome language barriers. For example, Teams also supports translating typed messages.

"Here at Microsoft, we serve a diverse set of global customers, including governmental institutions that hold parliament meetings in multiple languages, multinational and multilingual corporations, businesses that work with vendors around the world, and many more," Microsoft's Shalendra Chhabra, was quoted as saying.

"This feature was built to support customers and users who need to communicate in the virtual world across languages," Chhabra added.

A Microsoft support document breaks down how to organise a meeting with language interpretation, how to add interpreters, how to choose a language, and how to designate someone as an interpreter.

Meeting organisers have to provide their own interpreters. Up to 16 interpreter pairs can be added to any given meeting. The feature works in scheduled meetings, channel meetings, meetings with up to 1,000 people, and webinars.

Alleged GTA 6 leaked footage reveals gameplay details: Find those Grand Theft Auto VI videos here

Rockstar Games is currently developing the much-awaited GTA 6 and it may be some time before we get to see its official announcement. However, thanks to some leaked footage of the supposed GTA 6 through GTAForums, we get to see many things about the game for the very first time. Yes, these show a new female protagonist as it was being rumored, and there are also scenes of a robbery inspired by Bonnie and Clyde.

GTA 6 leak: What we get to see

Telegram update adds Infinity Reactions and Emoji Statuses: Heres how they work

Encrypted messaging app Telegram has announced that it is rolling out a new update that gives users more ways to use new emojis to express how they are feeling -- with infinite reactions and emoji statuses.

The company said that premium users can pick reactions from an infinite selection of custom emojis. To make choosing from thousands of emojis easier, they can now attach up to three reactions per message.

"All users now have access to dozens of reactions - including those that were previously only available with Telegram Premium," the company said in a blogpost.

"To accommodate all the new emojis, we have redesigned the reaction panel, making it expandable. The reactions you use frequently will show up at the top," it added.

These changes to reactions are currently available in groups and 1-on-1 chats.

With the new update, group admins can control whether custom reactions may be used in their groups.

Now, the premium users can add an animated emoji status displayed next to their name -- to quickly let everyone know how they are feeling or what they are doing.

"This custom status takes the place of your Premium Premium Badge in the chat list, in your profile and in groups," the company said.

Users can set one of seven standard statuses that change their colour to match different Telegram themes -- or choose from an infinite number of custom emoji. Popular suggestions for working, sleeping, traveling and more will be shown at the top.

"Tap the premium badge at the top of your chat list or go to settings to change your status. Press and hold an emoji to set a status for a specific duration," as per Telegram.

"Anyone can use Telegram's open emoji platform to upload custom packs with unique art styles and characters for Telegram Premium users," it added.

Users, who log out and log back in frequently, can now receive login codes through their email address or using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.

Samsung phones could get satellite connectivity in the upcoming generation: Heres what the report tells us

South Korean tech giant Samsung may be planning to introduce the satellite connectivity feature to its upcoming Galaxy devices.

However, it is unclear if this emergency feature will be available on the Galaxy S23 smartphones, citing tipster, GizmoChina reported on Saturday.

With the help of this feature, users can apparently establish a connection with the satellites and do an emergency call when there is no cellular signal coverage.

Tech giant Apple introduced the satellite connectivity feature with the iPhone 14 series.

Interestingly, this feature will not be available until November and it will work only in the US and Canada for now. However, rumours are rife that Apple plans to bring the feature to other countries as soon as later this year.

It is worth noting that Huawei introduced this feature first with its Mate50 series, before Apple.

As per the Chinese company, Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro smartphones will allow users to send short text messages via China's global BeiDou satellite network, allowing for communication in areas without connectivity.

As for Apple, the company uses Globalstar's network for its Emergency SOS feature on the iPhone 14 and future iPhones.

It is unsure which service Samsung will be using, but it is probably not Globalstar, as Apple is already 85 per cent of its current and future network capacity.

India ramping up semiconductor manufacturing allegedly leaves a dent in Chinas chip output: Details

As India and the US double down on domestic semiconductor manufacturing, China witnessed its biggest-ever monthly decline in chip manufacturing in August owing to Covid restrictions and weakening demand.

According to the South China Morning Post, the production of integrated circuits (ICs) slumped 24.7 per cent year on year to 24.7 billion units, marking the largest single-month decrease since 1997.

This is also the second consecutive month of decline for chip manufacturing. In July, the output nosedived 16.6 per cent to 27.2 billion units.

Local output of microcomputers fell 18.6 per cent to 317.5 billion units in August.

In August, domestic manufacturing activity contracted for the first time in three months, the report mentioned.

A record 3,470 chip-making companies "went out of business in the first eight months of the year", according to statistics from business database platform Qichacha.

The slump in chip production in China is coming as both India and the US ramp up efforts to bolster local chip manufacturing.

The Gujarat government has partnered Vedanta and Foxconn, aiming an investment of Rs 1.54 lakh crore to achieve self-reliance in the field of semiconductor manufacturing.

India's semiconductor component market is likel to reach $300 billion in cumulative revenues by 2026, as 'Make in India' and production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes will boost local sourcing of semi-components in the coming years, according to the report by the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) and Counterpoint Research.

The Indian government has announced an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore (around $10 billion), under its PLI scheme, separately for the development of a semiconductor and display manufacturing electronics ecosystem.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has signed into law the Chips and Science Act, which provides nearly $52 billion in semiconductor production incentives.

Intel has kicked off work on the new $20 billion semiconductor plant in the Ohio state in the US.

Samsung has floated an idea of investing nearly $200 billion to build 11 more chip plants in the US over the next two decades.

iPhone 14 Pros Dynamic Island gets new games around it: Here are some of the Dynamic Island games

As Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users try out the new Dynamic Island feature, some app developers have created games around the new design on the home screen.

App developer Kriss Smolka has created a Pong-style game called 'Hit the Island'. It challenges the user to bounce a ball between the paddle and the Dynamic Island to earn points.

"Who has an iPhone 14 Pro right now? Need to test this on device asap. Hit The Island -- our game concept for iPhone 14 Pro, still laggy but it's turning out nice," he said in a tweet.

"As simple as it sounds, Hit The Island with the ball and score points. But wait, there is a catch! The ball speeds up. It can get cloned. Then the paddle shrinks!" according to the app on iOS store.

Christian Selig, the developer of Apollo app for Reddit, has added the fun option to keep a pixelated pet on the Dynamic Island when using the app.

"I found the best idea for the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. I added a cat that lives up there like a tamagotchi and just hangs out and does cute stuff as you browse Reddit in my app (Apollo)," Selig said.

The Dynamic Island enables new ways to interact with iPhone, featuring a design that blends the line between hardware and software, adapting in real time to show important alerts, notifications, and activities, according to Apple.

With the introduction of the Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less of the display area.

Without impeding content on the screen, the Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of the Dynamic Island.

You can catch Jupiters closest date with Earth in 70 years on Sep 26

Washington, Sep 17 (IANS) Jupiter is set to make its closest approach to Earth in the last 70 years and on September 26, stargazers can expect an excellent view when the giant planet reaches opposition.

From the viewpoint of Earth's surface, opposition happens when an astronomical object rises in the east as the Sun sets in the west, placing the object and the Sun on opposite sides of Earth.

Jupiter's opposition occurs every 13 months, making the planet appear larger and brighter than any other time of the year. But that's not all.

"Jupiter's closest approach to Earth rarely coincides with opposition, which means this year's views will be extraordinary," NASA said in a statement late on Friday.

At its closest approach, Jupiter will be approximately 365 million miles in distance from Earth.

The planet is approximately 600 million miles away from Earth at its farthest point.

"With good binoculars, the banding (at least the central band) and three or four of the Galilean satellites (moons) should be visible," said Adam Kobelski, a research astrophysicist at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

"It's important to remember that Galileo observed these moons with 17th century optics. One of the key needs will be a stable mount for whatever system you use," he noted.

Kobelski recommends a larger telescope to see Jupiter's Great Red Spot and bands in more detail -- a four inch-or-larger telescope and some filters in the green to blue range would enhance the visibility of these features.

According to Kobelski, an ideal viewing location will be at a high elevation in a dark and dry area.

Jupiter has 53 named moons, but scientists believe that 79 have been detected in total.

The four largest moons -- Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto -- are called the Galilean satellites.

NASA's Juno spacecraft, which has been orbiting Jupiter for six years, is dedicated to exploring the planet's surface and its moons.

Scientists believe studying Jupiter can lead to breakthrough discoveries about the formation of the solar system.

New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) In an unusual move, Meta-owned WhatsApp is venturing into the film-making business and will premiere its first original short film titled 'Naija Odyssey' on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

The 12-minute short film tells the story of NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was born in Greece to Nigerian parents.

The 12-minute short film signifies WhatsApp's foray into entertainment, a first for a social media messaging platform.

However, 'Naija Odyssey" appears to be a way to promote WhatsApp as Antetokounmpo recently signed an endorsement deal with the company, another first for the platform, reports Variety.

"'Naija Odyssey' is a story that reinforces how WhatsApp helps us embrace our multifaceted lives. In navigating relationships, identity, and even adversity, WhatsApp is there a" enabling you to embrace all sides of you by connecting you to those who matter most," a company spokesperson was quoted as saying.

The 12-minute movie will also be released on WhatsApp's social media accounts, including its YouTube channel.

Antetokounmpo was named the 'NBA All-Star Game MVP' for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

Narrated by Antetokounmpo and his mother, 'Naija Odyssey' is inspired by the classic Greek epic poem 'The Odyssey', depicting different moments in his life.

Google working on Pixel Mini smartphone

San Francisco, Sep 15 (IANS) Tech giant Google is said to be working on a new Pixel mini smartphone that might come with a small screen.

According to GizmoChina, the leaker said this device is codenamed 'neila'. It features a centered punch-hole display and the visor-like rear design found on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 family of handsets.

Unfortunately, it is unknown whether the smartphone is part of the Pixel 7 series. Therefore, it may or may not be called the Pixel 7 Mini.

As per the report, upcoming Google products are generally spotted in the codebase. In the case of the Pixel Mini, it is yet to be found inside the software.

Meanwhile, Google is all set to announce new Pixel 7 smartphones with the second-generation chip as well as the Pixel Watch on October 6.

Called 'Made by Google,' the hardware launch event will see new devices, as shown by the company at its I/O developer conference earlier this year.

Google has confirmed Pixel 7 series will run on a second-generation aTensor G2' chip.

The Tensor chip was built in partnership with Samsung, enhancing Exynos-like processors with Google's machine learning prowess.
