New Windows backup and restore app will save a lot of your PC switching pain

Microsoft, Windows 11 Insider preview build 23466 for the Dev Channel, is exploring a bunch of new features including RGB lighting controls, improved Widgets, among others. While there has not been any update on the taskbar mobility, you can now ungroup applications on the taskbar. However, the major highlight is the Backup and Restore feature which can be considered one of the major changes in a long time for Microsoft.

The build has multiple new features for the Windows insider including Dev Drive, a storage drive based on the Resilient File System (ReFS) and there are improvements for Narrator, the Chinese natural sounding voice features.

Windows backup and restore gets new cloud syncing feature

Additionally, Microsoft is introducing a new Windows Backup application, formalising the transfer procedure it described earlier. In addition to storing your programmes and data in cloud storage, Windows Backup is made to maintain the layout of your data so that it may be transferred to a new PC. Credentials, programmes, files, and folders will all be kept in the cloud and connected to your Microsoft account.

The ability of Windows 11 to recall where applications were pinned makes it possible to restore them to a new PC and have them appear in the same location as previously. As well as credentials for things like Wi-Fi passwords, you can back up Windows settings along with your preferences though it's unclear what kinds of settings can be synced.

Microsoft advises using a virtual machine or setting up a new build on a different PC if you want to test this out. It does not serve as a substitute for conventional backup software.

In its blog post, Microsoft also described several of adjustments and improvements namely;

Voice-activated text creation: Saying "correct that," "spell that," or "click that" will now direct your vocal actions towards your PC.

Turn off individual notifications: Windows will offer to completely turn off any notifications that you frequently ignore from a particular app.

Start menu reorganisation: According to Microsoft, "We are experimenting with an alternate approach for ranking the most recently used files in the Recommended section of the Start menu that takes into account when the file was last used, the file extension, and more."

View your Wi-Fi password: Users can now see their password in the settings section, if they have forgotten it.

GTA VI will be something gamers have never seen before, teases Take-Two CEO

Grand Theft Auto is one of the most fabled and popular video game franchises of all time, with its latest installment, GTA V, which is about a decade old now, still going strong.

However, for some time now, fans have been waiting for Rockstar, the gamer’s publisher, to release the next installment of the series GTA VI. And gamers were treated to some encouraging news from none other than the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, who’re developing the next GTA adventure.

Strauss snag praises about the perfectionism in the Rockstar team

While things have been looking bleak for the fans for some time now, statements made by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar’s parent company), have given insights into the work being put into the development of the next Grand Theft Auto title and what it would bring to the table.

Also read: GTA 6 rumour: Game announcement in May 2023, launch by 2024?

Strauss, when speaking to CNBC TV earlier this week, spoke about the work that the Rockstar development team has to put in to make each GTA game what it is.

GTA VI

He said, “It needs to be something you've never seen before on the one hand, and it needs to reflect the feeling that we have about Grand Theft Auto. That's a big challenge for the team."

He also sang praises about the Rockstar development team’s work ethic and the way they strive for nothing but perfection. During his interview, Strauss also spoke about the future of A.I. and his company;’s performance for Q4. But we aren’t here to talk about Take-Two’s finances here, right?

Well, in the interview, there was not much on offer from Strauss. He was as quiet as Rockstar has been about GTA VI. There has been no trailer or teaser in sight.

GTA VI

However, some gameplay footage leaked last year, had brought in a wave of reactions from the fans. Some loved the way the game looked and played; however, some compared it to older editions of GTA.

Don’t miss: Alleged GTA 6 leaked footage reveals gameplay details

Whatever the case may be, I am sure, if you are reading this, you too are looking forward to the release of the next GTA game… And, from the looks of things, an official announcement could be right around the corner. So, hold on, and if we meet on an online server, drop a Hi! in the chat. Happy Gaming!

CES 2023: LGs latest Signature OLED TV has wireless audio and video transmission

LG announces new Signature OLEDs every few years at CES, and this year was no different. The new Signature OLED M breaks the mould as its top features aren’t just limited to the display. The Signature OLED M has a “Zero Connect” box that sends video and audio signals to the TV. This box only needs to be placed up to 30 feet away from the TV itself for it to work. This makes it the “world’s first wireless OLED TV.”

Signature OLED M LG Signature OLED TV specifications

The TV comes with three HDMI ports. All three of these are capable of 4K visuals at 120Hz. The TV also has a pill-shaped antenna that can be spun around for the best wireless performance.

“To ensure the seamless transfer of data from the box to the TV, the company developed an algorithm that instantly identifies the optimal transmission path,” LG said in its press release. “The algorithm also helps to minimize transmission errors or disruptions as it can recognize changes in the immediate environment — such as people or pets moving around the room — and switch paths accordingly.”

LG OLED TV Why is this product even needed?

One of the main benefits of the product is that it can simplify cable management. It can be a great option for people who do not like having cables all over the place and want a neat aesthetic in their home. The LG Signature OLED TV is likely to be more expensive than the brand’s largest 8K offering, however, there is no indication of the price yet.

Apple Watch and iPhone to focus on 17 health and fitness areas, tells the brand: What to expect

With iOS 16 and watchOS 9 this fall, Apple Watch and iPhone will offer features that focus on 17 areas of health and fitness, from heart health to sleep, women's health, mobility and more, according to the tech giant. Apple users can now store over 150 different types of health data from Apple Watch, iPhone, and connected third-party apps and devices. They can also choose to share certain types of this health data with loved ones. These features, available in nearly 200 countries and territories, provide users with high-quality data gathered throughout the day and night, said the company. As pandemic show us the importance of being fit and healthy, Apple is creating devices and services packed with "science-based technology" that equips people with even more information and acts as an intelligent guardian for their health, "so they are no longer passengers on their own health journey", according to Jeff Williams, Chief Operating Officer at Apple. The company feels drawn to this work not only because of the opportunity to help advance human health but "because we are driven by our principles to devote talent, resources, and expertise to where we can do the most good." "We believe passionately that technology can play a role in improving health outcomes and encouraging people to live a healthier day," he said in a recent Apple Health report. The Cupertino-based company said that its application programming interfaces (APIs) are enabling third-party developers to create new solutions that promote healthy lifestyles and innovation in health. "There are now tens of thousands of apps on the App Store that use our HealthKit API, so they can incorporate data users choose to share from the Health app to offer innovative health and fitness experiences, with rigorous privacy and data security protocols," according to the report. With users' permission, these apps can also contribute data back to the Health app. Apple recently collaborated with Stanford University in the US to build the Apple Heart Study, which was a first of its kind in the medical community and the largest virtual cardiac clinical study during its time. "It paved the way for Apple's work with some of the world's leading institutions to build three first-of-their-kind research studies to advance the science across women's health, hearing health, heart health, and more," said the report. Health institutions are using Apple devices, APIs, and frameworks to strengthen the relationship between physicians and patients with meaningful data, and enable care from anywhere. According to the report, health organisations and insurance companies around the world have collaborated with Apple to integrate Apple Watch in their wellness programmes to promote healthier behaviours and improve individual health at a large scale. "Our work primarily falls into two categories: personal health and fitness features on Apple Watch and iPhone, and the work we are doing with the medical community to support research and care," said Williams.

Twitter Starts Testing CoTweets Heres What You Need To Know

Twitter on Thursday announced that it has started testing its new CoTweets feature that would allow users to share credits for a Tweet. Twitter made the announcement via a Tweet that it put up on the Twitter Create (@TwitterCreate) account.

The microblogging platform has been on a spree of announcing updates to its services. Last week, Twitter announced that the ‘Custom Navigation’ feature, which comes as part of its Twitter Blue subscription, would be available for Android users. Before the announcement, the feature was only available for iOS users.

Share the spotlight and engage with new audiences. Select accounts in the US, Canada, and Korea can now send invites to CoTweet! This experiment will run for a limited time.

— Twitter Create (@TwitterCreate) July 7, 2022 Get together and engage more on Twitter!

In the announcement Tweet, the company expanded on the potential use of this feature, saying that it can be effective in connecting with new audiences. Instagram also has a similar feature on its platform. The' collab' feature allows users to share credits and get the content to appear on the Instagram page of both parties. And, given what we know about this feature, it seems like Twitter has taken a page off Instagram’s book.

The collab feature on Instagram is taking off well and is being used by creators across the platform.

Before going ahead and using the CoTweet feature, make sure to read the FAQs published by Twitter regarding this. The tweet published by the Twitter Create handle mentioned that this test is a limited-time experiment. However, when we went to the FAQs page, we found that if you are creating a Tweet using this feature, it may get removed from the platform after the testing ends. So, tread carefully.

The testing of this feature is also limited to certain regions, which has also been the case with a host of other feature tests that Twitter has conducted in the past. In this case, the CoTweet feature has been made available only for users in Canada, Korea, and the US.   As the test goes underway, with users in the selected region taking it to the platform to create a plethora of Tweets, it will be interesting to see which direction Twitter take with this feature. Twitter has been innovating and trying its best to bring new features to the platform. Now, with the leadership switch on the horizon, the journey ahead will be worth following!

Xiaomi Smart TV 5A is launching in India alongside Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 5

Xiaomi has set the Smart TV 5A launch in India on April 27 at 12 PM. It made this announcement through Twitter, calling it the return of its “A-game”. This new Xiaomi Smart TV would be the successor to last year’s Mi TV 4A Horizon Edition series. The company is dropping the Mi branding from its product names this year. That is evident in the name of its upcoming tablet named as Xiaomi Pad 5. This tab and Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone are also landing in India on the same day.

Here’s how Xiaomi teased the Smart TV 5A:

Laying the A(ces) on the table, and bringing the Next Smart TV. It's going to be 5 times better this time! Introducing the #XiaomiSmartTV5A, #YourCompleteEntertainmentExperience. Grand launch on 27.04.2022, 12 Noon. Get notified: https://t.co/tO0lv4ZMvP pic.twitter.com/azmbbiXw5T

Xiaomi Smart TV 5A

Besides the teaser image and a dedicated events page, the brand hasn’t disclosed many details about the TV at the moment.

It’s only from the teaser image that we get an idea of what the thing looks like. Although much of it is in the shadows, we see a thick bottom bezel with the Xiaomi logo. The TV seems to have very thin bezels on the other three sides. Xiaomi calls it a “seamless finish”.

We get shots of the TV standing on its feet as well as mounted onto a wall.

Again not particularly revealing, but the company boasts a “truly vivid display” and “powerful, immersive audio” from the Smart TV 5A.

Xiaomi Smart TV with A55 cores

Towards the end of the microsite, it tells us that the TV runs on an unnamed processor with A55 cores and Android TV software-based Patchwall UI.

We hope to learn more about the Xiaomi Smart TV 5A in the days leading up to the launch. So, mark your calendar for April 27 at 12 noon when this TV, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi Pad 5 will be launched.
