Dell launches new laptops in Inspiron 5000, Inspiron 7000, XPS and Vostro series at IFA

Dell has unveiled a new suite of laptops and 2-in1s in each category segment at IFA in Berlin. The new Inspiron, XPS and Vostro portfolio is built with materials to deliver top performance for for the everyday consumer, mobile professionals and fast-paced small business owners. “We have invested in redesigning our portfolio of mainstream laptops and 2-in-1s with beautiful designs, premium materials and thoughtful features, illustrating our ongoing dedication to deliver quality devices every user is proud to carry,” Ray Wah, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer and Small Business at Dell, said in a statement. Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 The new Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 family comes with a brushed aluminum exterior. Available in 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch sizes, the 2-in-1s borrow features from the premium range of XPS laptops. The devices ship with Intel 8th Generation U Series processors, optional 4K UHD screens, and a thermal flow to move hot air out through hidden vents. The 13- and the 15-inch versions have three-sided narrow bezels and a new 2.7mm miniaturized webcam offers better low light performance with Temporal Noise Reduction. Dell claims that it is the first PC-integrated USB camera to use this technology. The 15-inch and 17-inch versions offer optional NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics, as well as an optional Intel Optane Memory to increase single-drive performance. The Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s will be available starting at $879.99 (13-inch), $849.99 (15-inch) and $1,099.99 (17-inch) on October 2 in the US and Canada. Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 and laptops The Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1 borrows several high-end enhancements of the 7000 series, including thermal routing and narrow bezels. The two versions of the Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1, 5481 and 5482, offer the Intel 8th Generation U Series processors. The 5482 2-in-1 includes a USB Type-C port -- the first time standard in the Inspiron 5000 series, and an optional NVIDIA GeForce MX130 graphics card. The new Inspiron 14 and 15-inch laptops have a USB Type-C port that provides power delivery and display support, and an optional fingerprint reader is available on the power button. The devices come in different configurations and customers can get up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, storage options including SSDs and dual drives, optional discrete graphics up to NVIDIA GeForce MX150 Graphics, and an optional backlit keyboard. The Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 (5482) will be available at a starting price of $599.99 on October 2 in North America. Customers can get the Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 (5481) starting at $459.99 on October 2 in North America. XPS 13 family updates Dell’s flagship XPS 13 now offers Intel 8th Generation i3 processor in an affordable package. The company announced that the XPS 13 Developer Edition is now available with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (long-term support), an update that provides support for up to five years. In addition, the XPS 13 2-in-1 will also ship with Intel 8th Generation processors. The 2-in-1 comes with Dynamic Power Mode to deliver maximum performance, and up to 15 hours of battery life on an UltraSharp QHD+ InfinityEdge touch display. The XPS 13 Developer Edition with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is available now in the US at a starting price of $949.99, with availability in Canada and Europe coming soon. The XPS 13 with i3 will be available at a starting price of $899.99 from August 28 in the US. The XPS 13 2-in-1 with Intel 8th Generation processors will be available in the US from September 11 at a starting price of $999.99. Vostro 14 and 15 5000 laptops Dell also expanded its Vostro line of machines with new Vostro 14 and 15 5000 laptops which are focused on providing productivity and security features small businesses demand. These laptops also include 8th Generation Intel Core processors, USB Type-C port and optional Single-Sign-On fingerprint reader. The laptops offer hardware TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 2.0, which provides commercial-grade protection and storage for encryption keys to verify a device, and Bitlocker to configure security settings. The Vostro 5581 will be available at a starting price of $579 from November 9 in North America and the Vostro 5481 will be available from January 2 in North America starting at $669.
