OnePlus is now rolling out the latest Open Beta 19 for the OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 17 for OnePlus 5T smartphones. The new updates bring the Android Security patch on both the phones to September 2018, along with the regular big fixes and optimisations. The features being seeded with the new update are same for both the smartphones and they bring a new optimised UI for the Weather App. The OnePlus Switch app was recently updated for all on the Play Store and it gets new improvements. With the OnePlus Switch app, users can now manually connect to another device for transferring data if they are unable to connect switch with QR code on the old device. It will now also support backup and recovery for application data including the home screen, lock screen, and APP layout. OnePlus also reminds users that there might be some bugs in the latest builds and one can report about them using the company’s bug report forum. The new updates do not bring the Android Pie updates for the phones but the original OnePlus One, OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T have already received the latest Android Pie ports unofficially. The builds come via Team POSP and the new ROM for the OnePlus One is said to be almost fully stable with no major bugs reported as of writing this article. As for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T builds, their builds are based on pure AOSP but are said to be missing some functionalities like VoLTE, NFC and the new navigation gestures that comes with Android 9. However, it seems that the NFC and gesture-based navigation has been fixed now. It should be noted that flashing these builds would require decryption of the handset if encrypted. There could be additional undiscovered bugs and one is advised not to flash the builds on their primary device. You can learn more about the new ROMs here.
