Key Highlights: Third-party apps like Snapchat, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are delivering distorted, low-quality audio on the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The issue is reported by a handful of OnePlus 5 and 5T users. The problem is likely because the affected third-party apps are using the microphone on top of the phone, which is used for noise cancelling. More issues are cropping up for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users. After reports of users getting their phones bricked after installing the latest open beta update on their devices, users are now reporting audio issues on their phones. People are apparently experiencing distorted and low-quality audio while using certain third-party apps. The issues are not just restricted to the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T. OnePlus 5 users have also been complaining about the same since last year, ever since the OnePlus 6 came to market in June. Users have taken to Reddit and OnePlus forums to complain about the issue. Third-party apps like Snapchat, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are delivering low-quality audio during audio and video calls. However, the problem is not with all third-party apps. For instance, audio on Instagram works fine. One user claimed on Reddit that apps affected by the bug use the microphone on the top, which is used for noise cancelling, instead of the one on the bottom which is the one used usually while calling. If that is the case, OnePlus might be able to patch it in a future update. Having said that, the issue has been present in the OnePlus 5T for over a year now, and the company hasn’t taken any steps to get it corrected. The company recently stopped the rollout of the latest open beta for the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T. The latest open beta version reportedly started to brick the devices, according to users. OnePlus also halted the update to OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T.
