The Thin and Light Laptop market is teeming with new devices as laptop manufacturers are doing their best to convert many mainstream models into thin, lightweight laptops under 1.6 kilogrammes. LG is one of the many brands adding to this mini-revolution. LG Electronics announced yesterday its 2019 line-up of Gram laptops. The LG Gram is available in three sizes: 14 inches, 15.6 inches, and 17 inches. The 2019 range starts at Rs 95,000 and goes all the way up to Rs 1,26,000.
LG's 2019 Gram line-up consists of three models. The 14-inch 14Z990-V best defines the name as it weighs just 995g (0.99 kilogrammes). It is powered by an Intel 8th Gen Core i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM. Storage is taken care of by a 256GB solid-state drive with the option of adding extra storage and memory. LG claims the 72Wh battery on the 14-inch Gram will last up to 23.5 hours on a single charge. This is the only variant amongst the three not to feature a number pad. The LG Gram 14Z990-V starts at Rs 95,000.
At 1099g (1.1 kilogrammes), the 15.6-inch 15Z990-V weighs only a little more than its 14-inch Gram counterpart. It too is powered by an Intel 8th Gen Core i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM. Storage is taken care of by a 256GB solid-state drive with space to expand both storage and RAM. LG claims the 72Wh battery on the 14-inch Gram will last up to 21.5 hours on a single charge. The LG Gram 15Z990-V starts at Rs 98,000.
Then there's the 17-inch 17Z990-V, which weighs 1340g (1.34 kilogrammes). LG claims this 17-incher is made to fit in a traditional 15.6-inch laptop's frame using clever design. The 17Z990-V is powered by an Intel 8th Gen Core i7 CPU and 8GB of RAM. Storage is taken care of by a 512GB solid-state drive with an option to expand both storage and RAM. The DTS Headphone: X app comes bundled with the laptop. The 17-inch IPS LCD screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio and WQXGA resolution. LG claims the 72Wh battery on the 14-inch Gram will last up to 19.5 hours on a single charge. The LG Gram 17Z990-V starts at Rs 1,26,000.
Though the three Gram laptops vary largely in size, there are some features present in all three variants. For example, all three variants are certified to MIL-STD-810G durability standards and come with support for Thunderbolt 3. All three come with the option to expand storage and RAM although LG has not mentioned whether the solid-state drive employs PCIe NVMe or SATA III. The LG Gram was first announced in September 2015 and is now seeing its fifth iteration in 2019. The 2019 LG Gram is available for purchase on online outlets, including Amazon.in and LG's India website.
