Mi Band 5 tipped to have Amazon Alexa support

If information circulating the internet is to be believed, then Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Mi Band 5 in China towards the end of June or early July. The device will succeed to the Mi Band 4 which is already a year old now. The Mi Band 4 launched in India in September 2019 so we can expect the Mi Band 5 to come around the same time in India. The Mi Band 5 is being made by Huami. According to Tizen Help, “Mi Band 5 will have a larger display, more features, and NFC on the global version. Furthermore, our member has found out that the next Mi band 5 will have SpO2 or blood oxygen saturation, Amazon Alexa & Women cycle features.”

The smart band is also expected to have NFC (limited to the China release of the product) and is said to come with Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI).

It looks like the Mi Band 5 could be a promising successor to the Mi Band 4. In our impressions of the Mi Band 4, we said, “At Rs 2,299 The Mi Band 4 makes for a strong contender for THE budget tracker to buy. However, the inconsistency with step tracking, as well as a few other niggles has got doubt creeping through our heads.” You can read our impressions in detail here.

In other wearable news, Huami has announced that it will be launching the Amazfit Bip S wearable in India on June 3. The device was showcased at CES 2020 and is an improved version of the Amazfit Bip that is already available in India. The Amazfit Bip S features a transflective 1.28-inch colour display and a water resistance of 5 ATM. It is also tipped to offer a battery life of 40 days, which is not only impressive but also on par with the standard Bip as well as Bip Lite wearables. You can read more about it here.
