Alleged Samsung Galaxy M53 5G specs and design have leaked
Galaxy M53 5G could be one of the upcoming smartphones in Samsung’s pipeline. In the first quarter of 2022, the brand has released several Galaxy A-series and Galaxy M-series phones. Just a few days from now, on April 2, the Galaxy M33 5G is launching in India. Although the M53 5G was rumoured to launch alongside this phone in Vietnam on March 27, that didn’t happen. Still, the newly leaked renders of Galaxy M53 5G (from ytechb) make us believe that such a device exists, that is if the images are authentic.
So, with a pinch of salt, here we share its ostensible details scoured from leaks and rumours so far.
Samsung Galaxy M53 5G Specs and Features (Expected)Alleged Galaxy M53 5G render | Leak Source: ytechb
Samsung may outfit the Galaxy M53 with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED with 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and an Infinity-O cutout. Within this punch hole, there may be a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.
The rear cameras may be led by a 108MP main sensor, accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro module, and a 2MP depth shooter.
Galaxy M53 5G It's disappointing to see Samsung release it with the Dimensity 900, a processor that is 26% slower than the Snapdragon 778G inside last year's M52. The main camera will get an upgrade to 108mp but the Ultrawide & Macro cameras are all worse than before. pic.twitter.com/VaKgx8kVYR
— Anthony (@TheGalox_) March 22, 2022The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G processor could be a MediaTek Dimensity 900 coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The battery size is reportedly 5000 milliamps and the device could support a 25W charger.
All of these could come at a starting cost of VND 10.5 million, which is the rumoured price of Galaxy M53 5G in Vietnam. When that’s translated, the Indian price comes about to ₹34,834 even though actual pricing may differ.
That’s about all there’s to know at the moment.

YouTube Picture-in-Picture mode launched on iOS in the YouTube TV app
YouTube iOS users are finally getting picture-in-picture (PiP) mode. Good news!? Well, the iOS PiP feature is limited to the YouTube TV app and also only for US customers now. However, the feature is coming to all users, premium or otherwise in the regular YouTube app. Besides this, YouTube is also reportedly working on an emoji reactions feature.
Let’s unpack them one by one.
How YouTube PiP on iOS works: Here’s the update for iPhone and iPad usersYouTube Labs Page
YouTube PiP allows you to watch the video in a small scaled-down window that can be moved across the screen and you can view and interact with other things on the smartphone screen. Android phones have had this feature for a long time but a large portion of iPhone YouTube users are still awaiting it.
Picture-in-picture on iOS has been in testing for a while and YouTube premium subscribers could enable it in the app’s experimental settings. When you try out YouTube picture-in-picture mode on your iPhone, the videos you are watching could be opened in a mini-player and you continue using other apps on the device. Locking the screen would pause the video although you could resume by tapping the control menu available on the lockscreen.
The Twitter handle of YouTube TV announced:
iPhone & iPad users We’re happy to share that picture-in-picture is now rolling out to your iOS 15+ devices. Simply select a video to watch and swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the device's homepage. The video can scale down and move across your screen.
— YouTube TV (@YouTubeTV) March 30, 2022What’s new is that both iPhone and iPad YouTube TV users in the US can now experience PiP. The requirement is that your device must be on iOS 15 or above software version.
Also, the real good news comes from The Verge which has got a statement from Google spokesperson Allison Toh saying that the company is “still testing picture-in-picture on iOS with Premium members and hope to make it available to all iOS users (Premium and non-Premium) in the US in the coming months.”
Meanwhile, the Google company is also experimenting on —
Timed YouTube Emoji Reactions: How it worksYouTube Timed Reactions
In a blog, Google reveals it is testing a new way to share an emoji reaction (like a smiley face, confetti, etc.) at an exact moment in a YouTube video. This is in similar veins to another feature that allowed users to post a comment on specific moments of the video they are watching. Both these goodies are in the beta phase and being rolled out to a small number of channels, to begin with.
Meaghan, Community Manager, TeamYouTube, said, “If you’re watching a video that is part of this experiment, you can react and see crowd reactions by opening the comment section of the video and tapping into the reaction panel. The test will also show you which moments other viewers are reacting to. We know community is important to you, so we’re committed to bringing you more features that strengthen the sense of community on YouTube”.

Apple Said to Be Working on Hardware Subscription Service for iPhone, iPad
from Gadgets 360 https://ift.tt/UnP1u73
Apple Subscription Service for iPhones and iPads could arrive in 2022
Apple may come up with a new subscription system for buying iPhones and iPads. According to a fresh report from Bloomberg, the iPhone maker is working on a hardware subscription service that lets you buy not just iPhones but iPads too in monthly payments. So, if you felt that iPhone or iPad you wanted to be a bit pricey for your pocket, then, soon, you would be able to subscribe to the device as you do with the apps.
However, would you want a monthly iPhone subscription service? Well, you may be able to answer that properly once all details about the Apple hardware subscription service are here. For now, let’s piece together the information we have.
Apple subscription service for hardware: Everything we know
Although this could be applicable to other hardware products in the Apple ecosystem, at present the Bloomberg report mentions of iPhone subscription service and iPad subscription service only.
The plan seems to be to create a subscription payment model like with the brand’s iCloud, Apple Music, and other services. You’d be using the same Apple ID and App Store account you currently use to subscribe to these apps.
Now, if you were thinking of this as an installment system, the report suggests it’s not. This wouldn’t involve splitting the total iPad or iPhone price into 12 or 24 months. Instead, you would be paying a monthly fee based on your chosen device, although the nitty-gritty calculations of it are still to be determined.
Anyways, making the proposition a little more exciting is the chances of there being an upgrade program tied to this subscription service. That is once the new batch of iPhones or iPads hit the stores every year, you may be allowed to upgrade to those. Also, there are rumors of other Apple services like AppleCare or Apple One offered with this.
“The service would be Apple’s biggest push yet into automatically recurring sales, allowing users to subscribe to hardware for the first time — rather than just digital services. But the project is still in development, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the initiative hasn’t been announced,” notes the Bloomberg report.
If Cupertino decides to go ahead with the idea, we may see the Apple iPhone subscription service launch in late 2022 or early 2023.

Sony PS5 will be available for pre-order on March 24
It has been over a year since the Sony PlayStation 5 was released. However, stock shortages continue to plague the system. As such, prospective buyers of the system have little option but to either wait for the system to be in stock or bite the bullet and pay an exorbitant amount of money to a scalper.
Thankfully, gamers have another chance to get their hands on the system legitimately. The Sony authorised dealer, shopatsc.com has listed the PS5 as being available for pre-booking from March 24, 12:00 pm onwards. As is usually the case, expect other retailers such as Amazon India, Flipkart, Vijay Sales, Games the Shop and more to offer the same.
Sony PS5 restock: March 24, 2022 - 12:00pmGetting any next gen-console has been quite tough the world over thanks to a global chip shortage. The Sony PS5 (review), as well as the Xbox Series X (review), have been tough to come by. Both the consoles offer gamers something special when it comes to exclusives. Sony offers games such as Spider-Man Miles Morales (review), Sackboy: A Big Adventure and, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (review). It will also offer God of War: Ragnarok, which is a sequel to 2018’s God of War.
But don’t count out the Xbox just yet. The console’s Game Pass subscription service is one of the best deals in gaming. Not only that, but Microsoft has been on a bit of a spending spree of late. The company has already acquired Zenimax Media, which owns Bethesda, Arkane Studios and id Software. It was recently purchased by Activision Blizzard. As such, Microsoft now holds the keys to some of the biggest franchises in gaming. This includes the likes of Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Dishonored, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo and many more.

Android 13 Developer Preview 2 features notifications for excessive battery usage
Google has rolled out the Developer Preview 2 of Android 13 and even though most of the changes are meant for developers, there is this new notification system that would notify you of apps that consume a large amount of battery. This would be applicable to all apps on Android 13, regardless of the target SDK version. Besides, there is also a system notification for long-lasting foreground services of apps.
Android 13 System Notifications for Excess Battery UseSo, there are warning for both excessive battery use and long-running foreground services.
The excessive background battery use notification will be triggered if the app drinks more than its fair share of battery juice in the background in a 24-hour window. You don’t want that and now you’ll know. To decide if it’s unusually high, the system takes into account the following factors:
Foreground services, even those that have visible notifications Work tasks, including expedited work Broadcast receivers Background services Your app's cacheAs for developers, Android 13 has shared the rules for when the system can put their apps into a “restricted” zone and what the app can do while in this state. These are guidelines are called ‘battery-preserving measures’.
Devs are to note that the notification pertaining to Background battery use once shown will then be shown after at least 24 hours later. As for the one related to the foreground service, the notification asks the user to take a look at the Foreground Services (FGS) Task Manager and perhaps even take some action. This particular notification will thence be shown at least 30 days later.
However, not all apps will be governed by these rules. The exemptions include:
System apps and system-bound apps Companion device apps Apps running on a device in Demo Mode Device owner apps Profile owner apps Persistent apps VPN apps Apps that have the ROLE_DIALER role Apps that the user has explicitly designated to provide "unrestricted" functionality in system settingsAndroid 13 Notification Permission Request
Other than this battery-related setting, Android 13 also wants developers to seek permission for sending notifications, auto-downgrade previously user-granted permissions that aren't required anymore, support for Bluetooth LE, support for MIDI 2.0, a smooth At-a-Glance transition animation, freeform multi-window mode by default, and a new taskbar for Android on large-screen devices.
We will keep you posted on other Android 13 related updates. Till then, keep reading Digit.in for more such news, reviews, feature stories, buying guides, and everything else tech-related.

Google IO 2022 date set for May 11 and it will be an online event
Google I/O 2022 goes live on May 11. It will be a two-day event extending to May 12 as well. Going with the tradition, Google had released a puzzle to guess the date and details of its Annual Developer Conference. The four-part puzzle has been solved by now and the company chief Sundar Pichai has confirmed the Google I/O conference 2022 will be free and online for everyone.
We'll be back live from Shoreline Amphitheatre for this year's #GoogleIO! Join us online May 11-12 https://t.co/KgNKbaLeym pic.twitter.com/NUodJb7UCi
— Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai) March 16, 2022
Later, in a statement given to The Verge, Google spokesperson Alex Garcia-Kummert said, “This year’s event will be broadcast in front of a limited live audience, and is completely free and open to everyone virtually.”
Although mentions of I/O 2022 being “live from Shoreline Amphitheatre” and “in front of a limited live audience” might have confused some, it was later clarified to Ina Fried of Axios that this limited audience will be mainly Googlers and some partners. Meanwhile, the media and the public can watch it all online.
Here’s the aforementioned I/O puzzle:
The four-part puzzle consisted of tangled strings with physical and musical loops. Once untangled, they started playing a tune, which can now be heard on the io.google/2022 website. Therein, you can also see a countdown timer to the event.
Google I/O 2022 Registration and What to ExpectOn the I/O website, even though you get a sign-in option, the FAQ section notes, “Registration will be available in March 2022 - check back on this website for more details.”
However, once you register, you will receive key information like the session topics, speakers, and various activities of the event through email.
This year’s I/O is free for everyone. All sessions and keynotes will be available on-demand and in different languages even after the event without any charges. There will be virtual demonstrations too.
That said, the exact schedule is yet to be revealed. The company hasn’t hinted about the products it may announce either. Even if this is a dev conference, we may get to learn about consumer-facing products and features it is working on like say Android 13. Let's see. We’ll keep you in the loop.
