Samsung Galaxy S23 visits Geekbench with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC: Are the benchmark scores promising

Samsung Galaxy S23 series could launch early next year but ahead of it, the phone’s various details have been surfacing one after the other. The latest on the block is the Galaxy S23’s benchmark results. Yes, the base variant of the S23 series has been found listed on the benchmarking platform. From it, we get to learn the key specifications of the device. The upcoming Galaxy flagship is seen to be driving a yet-to-be-released Qualcomm chip which seems like Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. So, this listing gives us an idea of what to expect in terms of performance from both the upcoming phone and its underlying chip. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

As per the listing, we find the Samsung Galaxy S23 has got an SM-S911U model number. This could be the US variant of S23.

The revealing bit however is that the device bears a motherboard codenamed Kalama, and houses a prime core performing at 3.36GHz, four cores with 2.80GHz clock speed, and three efficiency cores running at 2.02GHz. This is shown to be coupled with Adreno 740 GPU which is the onboard graphics believed to be part of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The listing also mentions 8GB of RAM on the model that was tested although there could be bigger variants with 12GB RAM too. The device is running on Android 13.

All of these and the S23 Geekbench scores are 1524 points on single-core and 4597 points on multi-cores.

In earlier leaks and rumors, the handset is also said to be featuring a 120Hz 6.1-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel, a 50MP+ 12MP (ultrawide)+ 10MP (telephoto) triple rear camera setup, and a 12MP selfie shooter.

Finally, the expected color options are Green, Beige, Black, and Light Pink.
