Indias first Apple Store coming soon to Mumbai

It looks like the first Apple Store in India will be located in the city of Mumbai. This news comes officially from the company in the form of a banner that states “Apple BKC Arriving Soon”. The banner itself looks to be inspired by the iconic Kaali Peeli taxi art unique to Mumbai. The banner also includes colourful interpretations of the decals combined with many Apple products and services available. The Apple BKC creative also greets passersby with a “Hello Mumbai”. Back in January, we reported that Apple was looking to hire positions in a rumoured physical store that will open in India. It turns out that this is true.

Just last year, reports were swirling around that Apple was planning to open a store spanning 22,000 square feet in Mumbai at the beginning of 2023. The reports also state that the company is looking at opening a 10,000 - 12,000 square foot store in New Delhi, and others in the country. As of now, there are no official dates on when the Apple BKC store will open but we expect to hear more about it in the coming months. The fact that Apple is also looking at manufacturing its devices here as well bodes well for the company in a market like India. With Apple’s phones being more widely adopted in the country as compared to a few years ago, India could be the next big market for the American tech giant. With China taking a backseat in expansion plans for the company, India is looking more like it will be the focus and the Apple BKC store is proof of that. As we stated in our earlier report, “India also represents a large smartphone market, and though only a select few in the country can purchase Apple products, going by the population, even that small demographic represents a large number of consumers. EMI options on e-commerce websites have increased the pool of willing consumers too.”
