Snap Pixy launches as the Snapchat-makers first drone camera
Far from the seemingly outlandish and elusive Metaverse is Snap’s much more grounded and accessible Pixy. Well, that is if you are living in the US or France, the only markets where it has been launched for now. It retails at $229 (around ₹17,548) and for that price, you are getting a small drone that the company describes as a “pocket-sized”, “friendly flying camera”.
Here’s what you need to know about the new Snapchat drone camera.
Snap Pixy Specs and FeaturesFirst of all, to be clear, the photos and videos you capture out of Pixy can be edited using other apps on your phone or even exported to your computer. The images are of a 12-megapixel size and video clips of 2.7K resolution with 30 frames per second. Although Pixy defaults to shooting in landscape, within the Snapchat app, you get a cropping tool to convert the captures into portrait mode.
On Pixy, you get 16GB of storage. You can always transfer the onboard files/data to a phone/PC using a wired or a wireless medium. You get Bluetooth BLE and 5GHz WiFi AC for wireless connectivity.
Coming to the drone design, it is 101 grams in heft (including battery), and 131.7mm x 106mm x 17.6mm in dimensions. So, it is fairly light and small. Because of those things and in that yellow color, you are likely to find it cute.
It is reportedly easy to use and works without a controller. In case you are wondering, it is compatible with both iOS and Android phones.
On top of it, there is a silver-colored dial that lets you choose from one of the preset flight paths like Orbit (circles around you), Hover (tracks you from location), and Reveal (from a set distance, it will fly back to you). From within the Snapchat app, you also get to configure new flight paths. But, Pixy’s scope of movement is just up to 60 seconds within a range of 2 to 3m.
Around the dial, there are 4 rotors (within protective casings) that keep the thing flying.
Now, depending on the flight modes you choose, Pixy is rated to run for 5-8 flights. And when it seeks charge, you can either swap a different battery (easily replaceable but is something you have to buy separately) or top it up through a USB-C port on the body. Snap claims you get to recharge 80-percent of the full capacity in 20 minutes and 100-percent in 40 minutes.
Among other things, you should know that Pixy is not water resistant and so should not be exposed to "rain, snow, or submerged in water".
Snap Pixy Price and AvailabilityAs already mentioned, Snap has released the Pixy in the US and France at $229 (~₹17,548). The batteries cost $19.99 (~₹1531) a piece. You can order a portable dual battery charger priced $50 (~₹3832). The company notes the Pixy will be on sale until stock lasts. There is no word about its availability in other markets like India.

Google adds the ability to change screen resolution and other features on Android 13 beta 1: How to try
The first Android 13 beta is here. Google released the first of four beta versions recently and this one’s meant for the general public. However, the Android 13 beta 1 support is limited to select Pixel phones for now. We may get to learn about the other phone makers joining the Android 13 compatibility list at Google I/O in May. As for the Pixel users amongst you, we have a brief guide on how to install the Android 13 beta on your device. Here, we will also read about the various new Android 13 features discovered in this beta update.
List of Android 13 supported phones Pixel 4 Pixel 4a Pixel 4a 5G Pixel 4 XL Pixel 5 Pixel 5a 5G Pixel 6 Pixel 6 ProBesides, the above phones, the Pixel 6a might also launch soon (possibly at the Google I/O 2022 event) with Android 13 out of the box. The schedule for Android 13 for Samsung, OnePlus, and other phone makers may also be announced at this Google I/O in May.
Meanwhile, in India, you should be able to install Android 13 beta 1 on the Pixel 4a, since it was the last Pixel to launch in the country. But, note that this will have bugs and so proceed at your own risk. It is advisable to save a backup of the phone data somewhere before you go ahead.
How to download and install Android 13 beta on your phone Ensure that you have the Android 13 beta compatible smartphone and that it is sufficiently charged. Next up, you have to register for the Android beta program. On that site, hit the “Opt-in” button present beneath your Pixel phone. Once that’s done, you should receive the OTA update. If you haven’t received it, check within Settings > System > System Update. Download it on the phone. Using WiFi is suggested as it will be a big-size file. Once the download and the installation are complete, restart the phone. The device will boot with Android 13.
Android 13 beta 1 featuresSource: Blog.esper.io
Say for better game performance or saving battery life, you can now change the screen resolution on Android 13. Android 13 allows you to control your smart home devices from the Device Controls menu and you don’t have to unlock the phone for accessing this. The permission to access media files on Android 13 has gotten granular with options like READ_MEDIA_IMAGES for images and photos, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO for videos, and READ_MEDIA_AUDIO for audio files. So you will not have to grant access to all media files on your phone. A new QR code scanner is also available on Android 13 that is faster in detecting, scanning, and retrieving information from the code. In Android 13 beta 1, a new clipboard UI will appear on the bottom left corner of the screen when you copy some text. The 'soundfx' folder among the Android system folders have a shared library called 'libspatialaudio.so' that suggests the coveted spatial audio feature. This is something present on recent Apple iPhones. Improved playback seek/progress bar on the notification shade, more Material You colors, and other UI tweaks. So, although a few changes, they are interesting ones nonetheless, and if you happen to run Android 13, do try them.

Bose Smart Soundbar 900 launched in India with Dolby Atmos
Bose India has unveiled a new soundbar in India called Smart Soundbar 900. It is a Dolby Atmos speaker backed by proprietary spatial technologies. Thanks to the presence of HDMI eARC, you get to plug in the soundbar to a TV with a single cable and have a two-way sound transmission. There are wireless connectivity options like WiFi and Bluetooth also. Not only that, the new Bose soundbar also supports remote voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. There’s even a smart app for this purpose. You also get to enjoy Spotify Connect and AirPlay 2.
So, let’s see have a better look at the offering from this Bose Smart Soundbar 700 successor.
Bose Smart Soundbar 900 Specs and FeaturesThe Bose soundbar is equipped with Dolby Atmos for surround sound. This is accompanied with the company’s own tricks for the spatial sound. Bose has put in custom arrays, dipole-transducers, and low-profile transducers along with what is called Bose spatial technologies.
Here’s how the company describes its in-house features:
“While conventional Dolby Atmos soundbars create sound “overhead,” the 900 does more. Bose PhaseGuide technology adds other dimensions just as precisely, placing and “pinning” distinct sound to the right and left where there are no speakers. So the helicopter hovers above you – while the actors run past you, not across your screen. Or the singer is standing center-left while performing – and you hear them performing center-left in your room. When there’s no Dolby Atmos content, the horizontal spatial effects are just as effective, and Bose TrueSpace technology takes over for the vertical experience, remixing signals to add “height” without adding a ceiling speaker.
For programming or playlists, Bose QuietPort technology delivers exceptional bass performance and virtually no distortion at any volume. And if furnishings or system placement interfere with audio quality, proprietary ADAPTiQ technology automatically fixes it, optimizing performance for every space, every time.”
Bose notes the dimensions of the Smart Soundbar 900 to be — 2.3” high, just over 4” deep, and 41” long.
It is oval-shaped with wraparound metal grille and a supposedly impact-resistant tempered glass top.
As mentioned already in the beginning, there’s support for HDMI eARC which allows for a single cable two-way audio transmission with your TV. The Bose Smart Soudbar 900 specifications include WiFi, Bluetooth, built-in voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and Bose Voice4Video which lets you quickly call up a video on screen with your voice.
Bose Smart Soundbar 900 Price and AvailabilityYou can buy the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 from all Bose exclusive stores, offline retail chains Croma, Reliance & Vijay sales, and on Amazon, Flipkart priced at ₹104900.

Poco F4 GT renders have leaked ahead of its global launch on April 26
Poco is gearing up to launch a new GT-series smartphone called the Poco F4 GT. The brand has announced the F4 GT launch will be on April 26 at 20:00 GMT (which is 1:30 PM IST on April 27). The company calls it, “The Apex of Power”, and even though the brand hasn’t revealed anything else about the phone, it is rumoured to be a rebadged Redmi K50 Gaming Edition which debuted in China earlier this year. So, we can assume what to expect from the phone in terms of its specifications. What makes this even more probable is the newly leaked Poco F4 GT renders by Roland Quandt through the German website WinFuture.
We will get to them in a second, but before that, here’s the official Poco F4 GT announcement by the Poco Global Twitter page:
The biggest POCO launch of 2022 is coming! Bringing you #TheapexofPOWER, and more! Join us for #POCOF4GT global launch event on April 26th at 20:00 GMT+8! https://t.co/7p7rL4hDFg
— POCO (@POCOGlobal) April 22, 2022On to the crux of the matter now.
Poco F4 GT Specs and Features (Expected)
The device has shown up in the signature Poco Yellow, Grey, and Black colours in these renders.
As you can see in the said images, the Poco F4 GT is the spitting image of the Redmi K50 Gaming smartphone. So, Xiaomi is expected to rehash the internal hardware and software too.
If that’s the case, the Poco F4 GT could wield a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera, an 8MP 120° ultrawide snapper, and a 2MP macro unit. On the other side, the selfie camera could be a 20MP sensor.
This front camera could be lying within a 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with Victus protection, 1B colours, and HDR10+ support.
At the heart of the device, there could be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 4700mAh battery with 120W fast charging, and multiple memory configurations.
We will get to know the actual available memory options and confirmed specs details once the brand announces them on April 26. It is also when the Poco Watch and the Poco Buds Pro Genshin Impact Edition are set to see daylight. We were the first to bring the renders and specifications of those Poco devices to you.

Google Pixel Watch leaked images reveal its likely design
Google has a history of being lousy at keeping secrets. Yet again it has proven indiscreet as the company’s upcoming smartwatch has apparently been “left and found at a restaurant in the U.S”. And so, whomsoever spotted it has managed to capture photos of it from various angles and shared it with Androidcentral. These newly leaked images of the so-called Pixel Watch align with its early leaked renders and rumors. So, let’s learn how the Google watch looks like and what we know of it from the leaks thus far.
Google Pixel Watch: Design, Specs and Features (Expected)Google’s smartwatch could be round, unlike Apple’s square or squircle. It appears to be minimal in its demeanor in the leaked shots.
The watch could come out in other color choices too. Speaking of which, the accompanying pictures of the Pixel Watch band show its blue color and jelly-like build, similar to the Apple Watch strap. Like the watch case, the bands could also be optable in more colorways. However, what’s mildly disappointing is that the band seems not that easy to swap, as it has a unique design from the market standard.
The watch has got metallic accents on the surrounding frame, the crown, and the base. As per the source, the bottom side “looks metallic but feels like it’s coated with glass.” It is described as “well-built and premium” but “glossy and glassy”. Along the metallic frame, there is a narrow slit which could be its speaker outlet.
Google Pixel Watch leak | Source: u/tagtech414 (Reddit)
Now, soon after this leak, allegedly from the same source, a reddit post came answering some more questions about this Google smartwatch.
The redditor who goes by the handle u/tagtech414 says, “No charger was left, and the battery is dead.” We wonder if the Pixel Watch supports Qi Wireless charging. It would be great if it does.
Although the watch in the images is a black-colored one and the screen is mostly off, we can’t make out the bezels, the guy suggest it has “pretty substantial” borders.
Coming back to the band, he mentions of “a little lip under each button so the bands should catch and lock in”. And while you put it on, the base of the watch apparently doesn’t make that much contact with the skin.
Dimension-wise, the person claims it's about the same size and thickness as his 46mm Galaxy Watch. He further adds that it’s about ½ inches thick and 1 ½ inches in diameter.
He also tells, the watch did boot up to the G logo screen only and didn’t move past that, perhaps because of a missing fully-loaded OS. By the way, Google could ship its first twatch with the Wear OS 3 software co-developed with Samsung. Even the underlying processor could be an Exynos and not Snapdragon Wear, as identified within a Google Update code by folks over at 9to5Google.
Incidentally, in another leak by EVLeaks (via 91Mobiles), we get to see the Pixel Watch face renders with Fitbit, and a heart rate scanning icon. The watch carries a model name — “Rohan”
Well, that’s about we could gather from the reddit thread and other leaks so far. We will be keeping an eye on the said reddit post as well as other Pixel Watch leaks and revelations in general. The first Google smartwatch is expected to come either at Google I/O 2022 in May or alongside the Pixel 7 series in the fall.

PUBG New State April update: Everything you need to know
PUBG New State is getting its April update. As with any other major update, the 0.9.30 update will introduce a bunch of new additions, features as well as changes. This includes a new game mode, weapons, gun customisations, throwables, and more. The update will also include a new collaboration, this time with the popular online social deduction game, Among Us.
PUBG New State: New Erangel Extreme BR ModeThe Erangel Extreme BR Mode sees 48 players battle it out in a game of Battle Royale. The matches are designed to last for up to 15 minutes. As an added differentiator, the mode will be played under ‘Erangel Sunset’, which is an exclusive weather effect.
Another unique aspect of the model is the way that the match will start. Players will deploy with a bunch of items already on them. This includes a Skorpion and a Viper A-Spec sight. The weapon will have 20 rounds already loaded, with an additional 30 rounds in the inventory. Other items that they will have include a level 1 Helmet and Body Armour, a smoke grenade, a first aid kit, a painkiller, two energy drinks, four bandages, and 500 Drone Credits.
Another notable aspect is that when the match starts, a random amount of care packages will appear in random areas. As the match progresses, normal care packages will not be dropped. Instead, there will be an additional one-time multi-drop.
To speed up gameplay, players will start the match with their boost gauges at 100%, and more vehicles will be found in Erangel. Further, the play will fly at a lower altitude to allow players to quickly land and start the action.
PUBG New State: New MCX assault rifle, weapon customisation and attachmentsThe MCX is a new assault rifle that uses 5.56mm rounds. It offers a high damage output thanks to its high rate of fire. The MCX accepts scope, magazine, muzzle, grip and stock slots. The weapon will also get a new enhanced suppressor that offers increased noise suppression, and damage along with decreased recoil control.
The DSR-1 and Crossbow also feature customizations. The DSR-1 can now be customised with a Tank Flash Hider on the muzzle. This increases damage, while decreasing vertical recoil control. Meanwhile, the Crossbow will get magnetic bombs that can be attached to bolt tips. The magnet will attach to metal objects and then explode after five seconds. If the bomb does not explode, the bolt will deal reduced damage.
In terms of new attachments, you get a Grenade Launcher that can be equipped with the grip slot of some weapons. These include the M416, and the Beryl M762, and more weapons will b compatible with the attachment in the future. Players can switch between firing bullets and grenades by changing the firing mode. The launcher itself will spawn with no ammo, but 1-2 grenades will spawn near the launcher. Additional grenades can be purchased from the Drone Store. It should be noted that the gun itself will function as usual with the Grenade Launcher attached, but players will have to deal with increased weapon recoil.
Snipers are going to love the fact that a new Deca Vision (10x) scope has been added to the game. This variable scope will allow players to adjust the magnification from 3x all the way up to 10x. The Deca Vision scope can be added to any gun that can use a 6x magnification scope. The new scope is only available via the Drone Store.
PUBG New State: New throwables and itemsPlayers will now find the Poison Gas Bomb during their gameplay. As the name would suggest, their bomb will release a noxious cloud that will cover an area. Any players caught within the cloud will be forced to hold their breath. When the breath gauge hits zero, their health will start to get damaged over time.
The T-RS is a new item that will fully restore the user’s health while filling up their boost gauge to 100. While it can be rare to find the T-RS on the map, players can purchase it from the Drome Store.
Another new addition to PUBG New State is the Self-Defibrillator. These are only available in Solo Mode and can be used to self revive. When the user’s health drops to zero, the player will now be downed instead of being outright killed and the ‘User Item’ UI will automatically appear. Players will then be able to revive themselves. It should be noted that players will not be able to perform any other actions for 10 seconds when using the item. Juust like the T-RS, the item is a rare find on the map, but it can be purchased from the Drone Store.
PUBG NEW STATE x Among us CollaborationAside from this, the update will also see a collaboration with Among Us. As part of the update, players will see Among Us themed changes to certain parts of Troi. This includes the Starting Island, Anchorville, and Chester. These locations will now feature Among Us characters and animated murals.
Aside from this, players will also be able to play a new mini-game on the Starting island, before they board the plane. In it, one squad member will be an Imposter, while the rest will be Crew Members. The Imposter needs to hide amongst the Crew Members and eliminate them using a handgun to win. Meanwhile, the Crew Members must complete tasks and avoid being eliminated by the Impostor to win.
You can check out the entire list of changes in the official Patch Notes, here.

Xiaomi Smart TV 5A is launching in India alongside Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 5
Xiaomi has set the Smart TV 5A launch in India on April 27 at 12 PM. It made this announcement through Twitter, calling it the return of its “A-game”. This new Xiaomi Smart TV would be the successor to last year’s Mi TV 4A Horizon Edition series. The company is dropping the Mi branding from its product names this year. That is evident in the name of its upcoming tablet named as Xiaomi Pad 5. This tab and Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone are also landing in India on the same day.
Here’s how Xiaomi teased the Smart TV 5A:
Laying the A(ces) on the table, and bringing the Next Smart TV. It's going to be 5 times better this time! Introducing the #XiaomiSmartTV5A, #YourCompleteEntertainmentExperience. Grand launch on 27.04.2022, 12 Noon. Get notified: https://t.co/tO0lv4ZMvP pic.twitter.com/azmbbiXw5T
— Xiaomi TV India (@XiaomiTVIndia) April 21, 2022 Xiaomi Smart TV 5A: What we know so farBesides the teaser image and a dedicated events page, the brand hasn’t disclosed many details about the TV at the moment.
It’s only from the teaser image that we get an idea of what the thing looks like. Although much of it is in the shadows, we see a thick bottom bezel with the Xiaomi logo. The TV seems to have very thin bezels on the other three sides. Xiaomi calls it a “seamless finish”.
We get shots of the TV standing on its feet as well as mounted onto a wall.
Again not particularly revealing, but the company boasts a “truly vivid display” and “powerful, immersive audio” from the Smart TV 5A.
Towards the end of the microsite, it tells us that the TV runs on an unnamed processor with A55 cores and Android TV software-based Patchwall UI.
We hope to learn more about the Xiaomi Smart TV 5A in the days leading up to the launch. So, mark your calendar for April 27 at 12 noon when this TV, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi Pad 5 will be launched.
Change the game for the gamer in you. It’s time to #doitbetter with the #XiaomiPad5. Get Notified: https://t.co/i4pBNFm8dB pic.twitter.com/WINuMffBZL

Sony is looking at placing ads in its games, Netflix also following suit
As if ads on TV weren't bad enough, it looks like Sony could be following Microsoft in including advertisements in games. One of the few reasons people have been cable cutting over the past few years is that ads are annoying and intrusive. There is a place and time for ads but companies seem to think it’s all the time. In a report on Business Insider, Sony is now looking at adding ads in its free-to-play games. The company has reportedly encouraged its developers to look beyond the much-hated microtransactions and other cash grabbing features. What this could mean for the regular gamer is that you’ll see in-game ads on billboards on sports games, in open-world games etc. In fact, Sony is looking at even rewarding gamers who have the zen-like ability to sit through droning ads.
Advertisments in games? Sony and Microsoft exploring optionsThe report further states that the feature should launch by the end of the year, so saddle up boys. Sony says that it has a strict vetting process, but considering the company has been subject to hacks and leaks, that’s not a very confidence-inspiring statement. Concerns regarding data miming and tracking have been brought to the forefront but at the end of the day, the almighty dollar always wins and as consumers, we bear the brunt of these decisions. To add insult to injury, it looks like Netflix could be throwing its hat in the ad game. According to a report in the New York Times, streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ are actively looking at adding ads to their content. Netflix has also posted a loss of 200,000 subscribers and a crash in stock prices. The streaming giant has also talked about cracking down on password sharing.
In what can only be described as a Back to the Future situation, we’re basically moving backwards to a mix of free, ad-driven services and a small list of expensive ad-free services. And, although the video game industry isn't as developed as TV, it too, is going through its own growing pains. These decisions have been met with universal criticism but at the end of the day, it looks like ad-driven content is here to stay.

Twitters Edit Tweet feature is finally on its way and heres how it could work
The Edit Tweet button on Twitter is a highly anticipated feature among users of the social media giant. Of late, you may have started hearing about it as the brand itself announced that it is working on the same. Although initially it was assumed to be an April Fool’s day prank, later was revealed to be true. Some users have even been able to get access to the feature and shared how it works. Without much ado, let’s see the new Twitter feature in action.
How the Twitter Edit Tweet option worksFirst, we have got screenshots of the Edit Tweet option from a mobile developer and leaker, Alessandro Paluzzi.
Once you publish a tweet, you will see ‘Edit Tweet’ among the list of options within the 3-dot menu. Tap it and you will see the original tweet in the editing mode. Make the required changes and hit the Update button. The tweet will be updated with the edits you made. That’s it.
Additionally, another developer named Nima Owji also shared how to edit the tweets, but he showed this in the form of a GIF. So, it may give you a better idea of how this Editing function works.
I recorded a GIF from the upcoming #Twitter's Edit Button! pic.twitter.com/FPIRzzjUAF
— Nima Owji (@nima_owji) April 16, 2022Mr Owji says that you can only edit the text content of the tweet and you won’t be able to change the audience once the tweet has been posted.
Now, even though this enlightens us about the basic functioning of the Twitter Edit feature, it doesn’t answer some of our questions.
For instance, neither of them tells us if we can edit only a portion of the tweet or in its entirety. It isn’t revealed if our audience or viewers would be able to see the changes. We don’t know how many times we may be able to edit a tweet. Also, it isn’t clear how the edits affect the retweets.
Going forward, we may learn about them in leaks and official revelations from Twitter. However, for now, these are some queries bothering us.
One last thing, we know that the Twitter Edit Tweet functionality will be an exclusive feature for Twitter Blue subscribers, at least in the early days.
1/ We’ve been exploring how to build an Edit feature in a safe manner since last year and plan to begin testing it within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months. Sharing a few more insights on how we’re thinking about Edit https://t.co/WbcfkUue8e
— Jay Sullivan (@jaysullivan) April 5, 2022Perhaps, if Twitter sees some change in its top management, things may change course. As you may know, the free-speech evangelist and tech-billionaire Elon Musk is also a big proponent of this feature. You may have also heard that he is eyeing a hostile take-over of the company. If in case you haven’t, you can read about the whole Elon Musk Twitter saga here.

WhatsApp is working on Communities, Emoji Reactions, and hiding Last Seen from My Contacts Except
Meta announced recently that it is going to release Communities on WhatsApp which will assemble different groups with an overarching theme in a new tab that the common admin of all these groups will be able to see and access. The admin will be able to broadcast messages across all these groups from a single screen. The messages you receive can be reacted to using emojis now. Not only that, as per WABetaInfo, Meta has a few other features in the store like hiding ‘Last Seen’, ‘About’, and ‘Profile Photo’ from select people.
WhatsApp Communities: How it worksWhatsApp Communities tab will gather groups with a similar theme or purpose in one place and the admin will be able to send “announcement messages” to everyone spread across multiple sub-groups in that community. Meta says the Community admin will have other powerful new tools to control how these message updates will be disseminated.
The social media giant has also assured WhatsApp Communities will be end-to-end encrypted for privacy and security.
For your safety, you can be added to a community only if the other person (admin) has your contact number. Also, WhatsApp Communities won’t be searchable or algorithmically recommended.
Even when you are part of a community, your phone number would be hidden from others in the community except for the Admin and folks who are already with you in your sub-group.
New Upcoming WhatsApp Features Announced You can soon send reactions to messages with emojis like heart, thumbs up, laughing face, shocked face, prayer hands, and crying face. Group admins will be able to delete “errant or problematic messages from everyone’s chats”. The File Sharing size limit for attachments is being increased up to 2GB. The maximum number of participants on WhatsApp Group Voice Calls will be 32 people soon. While the company has said the aforementioned features will be rolling out in the coming weeks, you could also expect changes to the WhatsApp Privacy settings as per this leak:

Soon, going into WhatsApp Settings > Privacy > Last Seen/ Profile Photo/ About screens, you will have a new option called, ‘My Contact Except‘. This allows you to hide this private information from specific contacts that you choose. The only catch is that when you hide your details from others, you won’t be able to see their details either.
We will be sharing more such new WhatsApp news with you as we come across them. So, stay tuned.
