Google Pixel 7 Prototype Appears On eBay Giving Us A Good Look At Its Design
For whatever reason, Google is notoriously bad at keeping its unreleased products behind the curtain. The latest example of this is the listing of a Pixel 7 prototype on eBay (via Mishaal Rahman). The phone with model number GVU6C and 128GB storage was apparently on sale which has now ended. Now even though we can’t tell how legit this listing is, the alleged live photos of the Pixel 7 that has come out of it are eye-catching nonetheless.
Google Pixel 7 Design, Specs, and FeaturesGoogle Pixel 7 Pro reflection on the back of Pixel 7 prototype.
Google is continuing the prominent camera bar on the back of the phones. This time, it is said to be made of aluminium. The Pixel 7 Pro has got a pill-plus-circle cutout whilst the regular Pixel 7 has just got the Pill. This could be because of the difference in camera sensors within both devices.
The front of the Pixel 7 appears to have a central punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The standard Pixel 7 is expected to come with a 90Hz FHD+ panel whereas the Pro could sport a 120Hz 2K panel with an inherent upscaling solution.
Both of these panels could be made by Samsung Displays.
As already teased, the new Pixels will come with an upgraded Google Tensor SoC, Android 13, and various colour options, among other things.

The iPhone 14 Pro Notch Teased In Apple Pay Ad
Apple is still some months away from launching the new iPhone 14 series and this time around we are expecting 4 iPhones, namely, the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The two Pro models are said to flaunt a new look on the front, out of the quartet. The company could finally ditch the wide notch and instead employ a pill+hole-shaped cutout. This could be home to the selfie camera and the Face ID tech. Now although Apple hasn’t confirmed any of this, interestingly enough, the new design choice has made an appearance in a recent Apple Pay advert.
Who would’ve thought Apple would do such a thing. The iPhone maker is known to be deliberate in its marketing and which makes the new notch design highly likely. And this could be a refreshing change for new iPhone buyers this fall.
Apple iPhone 14 series Specs and Features (Expected)This could be the year when Apple creates the biggest chasm between the regular and Pro model of iPhones.
The difference between the two lineups will be evident right from the display itself. That is the new pill+hole camera notch will be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro phones. The circular aperture could be where the Face ID dot projector sits, and the pill-shaped cutout will be used to house an improved front camera, Face ID infrared camera, other sensors, and microphone. This implementation is rumoured to cost more too which could reflect in the prices.
The 120Hz high-refresh-rate Pro-Motion feature could still be a Pro feature. The screen sizes could be 6.1-inches for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, while the Max variants could have a bigger 6.7-inches.
The rumour has it that there would be no iPhone 14 Mini, as the yields of the previous Minis were reportedly not that great.
A15 Bionic
The other exclusive features of the iPhone 14 Pro series could be a 48MP primary camera (with pixel-binned 12MP snaps for low-light settings), improved ultrawide and telephoto cameras, 8K video recording, and A16 Bionic SoC. Yes, the standard iPhone 14 and its Max sibling are said to borrow the A15 Bionic from its predecessors. Now, our guess would be that Apple would choose the 5-core GPU and 6GB RAM setup from the iPhone 13 Pro series.
But, only time will tell how much of these would prove true. So, we advise you to take them with a pinch of salt.

Google Pixel 7 Series Said To Rely On Samsung For This Key Component
Google is one company that leaks or reveals the key specifications and features of its products ahead of the official launch. Back at I/O 2022, the company gave us a glimpse of the Pixel 7 Pro which is actually scheduled to be launched in the fall. We got to see the rear side of the device with the new visor-like camera bump and the new aperture design for what seems like a triple camera setup. But, what Google didn’t show us was the front of the device. It hasn’t spilled any details yet. However, a new 9to5Google report suggests that both Pixel 7 models could come with the same displays as their precursors and the components would be yet again sourced from Samsung.
Here are the details —
Google Pixel 7 Series: What We Know So FarIt has been discovered from the Android Open Source Project that Google has two new display drivers codenamed C10 (Cheetah) and P10 (Panther) used on the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro respectively.
The regular Pixel 7 could have a 90Hz display with 1080 x 2400 resolution while the Pixel 7 Pro could feature a 120Hz screen with 1440 x 3120-pixel resolution. However, the Pro model will stick to the native 1080p mode for saving power and it would be the panel’s “DDIC scaling” that converts the resolution to 1440p.
Now, the aforementioned display specs are comparable to the Pixel 6 lineup and the reason is that Google is allegedly using the same Samsung panels S6E3FC3 and S6E3HC3 on the new Pixels.
The only difference is supposedly in the dimensions of the Pixel 7, which is said to be a tad smaller than the Pixel 6. In the case of the Pro variant, there’s a small chance that Google could use a newer S6E3HC4 panel which is known to be at its disposal for some time. That said, it could keep this panel for future use.
The next generation of Pixel phones is on the horizon. Here’s a first look at the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro — equipped with a new generation of Google Tensor and a sleek design. Coming this fall. #GoogleIO pic.twitter.com/WMysJv1lZP
— Google (@Google) May 11, 2022Besides the screen, we know Google will be equipping the Pixel 7 series with an upgraded Tensor SoC and possibly Android 13. That’s all for now. We will keep you posted on more details about the future Pixel smartphone details as we have them.

Google Adds Meaningful Updates to Photos, Docs, and Drive
Google has announced a slew of key updates to its popular applications such as Google Docs, Google Drive, and Google Photos. At first glance, they may seem like rather basic features but will enhance the user experience. Not only that, whenever Google rolls out something, especially to the aforementioned apps, that is likely to impact the daily workflow of millions. So, let’s have a crack at the new ones to see if you fall in those millions, as in would you be benefitted from these features. If yes, how to make use of them.
Get your real skin tone on your photos with the Google PhotosDuring the Google I/O 2022, the company had revealed its working on implementing the Monk Scale of colour representation in the Google Search image results. It has now brought that colour tuning to Google Photos in the form of filters. There are Playa, Isla, Honey, and Desert as the various options and the company claims they will “work well across skin tones.”
The new colour adjustments are available on the web as well on iOS and Android.
Simultaneously cut, copy, and format multiple blocks of text on Google DocsJust hold Command (⌘) or the Control key and select the section of text you want. Thereafter, apply formatting options from the top menu/toolbar. You can also press Cmd/Ctrl along with C (for Copy) and X (for Cut). This doesn’t require much explanation as you must have used these keyboard shortcuts on other apps.
Keyboard shortcut based Cut, Copy, and Paste on Google DriveThis is yet again self-explanatory but Google also enables copying (cutting) and pasting files from Google Drive across tabs. If you try pasting the file into an email (Gmail) or Google Docs, the file title with the actual file’s link hyperlinked is what will be shared.

Microsoft Keystone Is Officially Confirmed to Be an Upcoming Xbox Streaming Stick
Microsoft has finally confirmed that it is working on an Xbox streaming device codenamed Keystone. The rumor has it that the Redmond-based company has been engaged in the project (which has been heard under names like Hobart before) for a long time now. This time though a Microsoft spokesperson has disclosed about its game streaming stick to Windows Central and here’s the statement —
“Our vision for Xbox Cloud Gaming is unwavering, our goal is to enable people to play the games they want, on the devices they want, anywhere they want. As announced last year, we’ve been working on a game-streaming device, codename Keystone, that could be connected to any TV or monitor without the need for a console.
As part of any technical journey, we are constantly evaluating our efforts, reviewing our learnings, and ensuring we are bringing value to our customers. We have made the decision to pivot away from the current iteration of the Keystone device. We will take our learnings and refocus our efforts on a new approach that will allow us to deliver Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players around the world in the future.”
So, let’s unpack this new revelation.
Microsoft Xbox Keystone Streaming Stick: What we know so farSome years back, there was chatter about this Microsoft streaming device which then went by the name Project Hobart. As a Windows Central post dated Nov 7, 2016 notes, “Project Hobart would have been a $99 dongle, with low computational power — albeit powerful enough to run UWP apps and even light UWP games”. This would have been over WiFi through Xbox Windows 10 app.
The device was set to hit the production floor in a quantity of about 300,000 units and launch not so long after E3 2016. But then, owing to reasons unclear, things took a left turn, and Hobart got canceled. Some consider Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro leak played a part in this. But, God knows.
Now fast forward to May 2022, we are allegedly hearing straight from the horse’s mouth that such a device exists somewhere in the Microsoft labs.
XBOX KEYSTONE pic.twitter.com/warAwisfKh
— Tero Alhonen (@teroalhonen) March 9, 2022The Project Xbox Keystone was first discovered in the Xbox OS list. Besides this and the words of the official source, there isn’t much known at the moment. It’s not even clear whether the Keystone device will run on Xbox OS, Windows, or Android. Also, as the spokesperson hints, the company is yet to decide on a final version of the product. So, we may still be in for a long wait.

IIT Madras And Harvard Collab to Use Tech To Track Down Wildlife Poachers
Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) is a serious threat to the safety and in some cases, the subsistence of several animal species. Even amid the pandemic lockdowns whilst we humans were compelled to take stock of life and morality, wildlife poaching was afoot. In India, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), 522 unique reports of illegal wildlife hunting and trade were documented in the first year of the pandemic. To counter this, everybody from state-run institutions, and private philanthropists to educational institutions are coming up with various measures. One such initiative has come forth from the combined efforts of IIT Madras and Harvard University researchers.
The brains of these two imminent universities have co-developed a Machine Learning algorithm based on the mathematical principles of Game Theory. It aims to aid in both resource allocation and real-time drone-powered communication for on-ground patrolling. So, it coordinates both eyes on the sky and feet on the ground. Let’s dig deeper to understand how it works.
CombSGPO algorithm and Green Security GamesGreen Security Games (GSGs) is a general framework employing Game Theory for tackling wildlife poaching and other crimes against the environment. Various influential organizations like Microsoft, Simons Institute, and Harvard are working on this. Here, in this case, it is being used for unified resource allocation and patrolling in the real world in real-time amidst all uncertainties.
Unlike earlier solutions, this new model with help of the CombSGPO algorithm claims to address both resource allocation and patrolling stages simultaneously. It works towards finding the best-case scenario for the defender using previous incidents and interactions between poachers and the defenders. It will strategically signal the other drones and human patrollers. Moreover, it is also designed to scale better.
Species under threat
“The work was motivated by the need to perform strategic resource allocation and patrolling in green security domains to prevent illegal activities such as wildlife poaching, illegal logging and illegal fishing. The resources we consider are human patrollers (forest rangers) and surveillance drones, which have object detectors mounted on them for animals and poachers and can perform strategic signalling and communicate with each other as well as the human patrollers,” said Prof. Balaraman Ravindran, Head, Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBCDSAI), IIT Madras. Mr. Ravindran has conducted this research with Prof. Milind Tambe’s Teamcore Research Group at Harvard University, U.S.
Well, that’s the long and short of this IIT-Harvard tech.
Across the globe, technology is being heavily used to combat wildlife poachers. There are of course drones, but they come with concerns like battery life, cost of the device, and the cost of trained operators. Besides, some other technologies used in wildlife protection against poachers are tracking collars or embedded GPS/GSM chips, as well as sensors for speed, sound, and light.

Microsoft Store Is The Big Winner Of The Build 2022 Developer Conference
Microsoft Build 2022 is underway. It started off on May 24 and goes on till May 26, 2022. For the third consecutive year, the developer event is free and online. Here we will go through the key announcements made by the Redmond-based company and guess what, the Windows store is the big winner. It is being made more useful by opening it up to Win32 apps as a waitlist. So that means more options for the end-user and making things easier for the user is the new app restoration facility.
Microsoft Build 2022 AnnouncementsMicrosoft is working on an automatic app restoration option in the Windows store. This could be similar to app stores on other platforms. Now, the only catch could be that this will work with apps that are present in the store. It shouldn’t be a problem with apps like Canva, Epic Games, Firefox, Zoom, Audacity, and OpenOffice. So, if you use apps downloaded from external sources, don’t expect this to work.
This means the Microsoft store needs to have more apps. Even many of the popular apps aren’t available on it. Probably to fix this, the company is getting rid of the waitlist for submitting Win32 as well as PWA apps to the store.
Besides these two additions, Microsoft has also revealed that it will be showing ads in the Microsoft Store and app listings on Windows Search.

NVIDIA at Computex 2022: HITMAN 3, F1 2022, Deep Rock Galactic and more will soon receive RTX Support
Nvidia has announced a list of games that will soon receive RTX support, i.e., become RTX On.
Nvidia's Computex presentation this year was mostly around AI and Cloud solutions, but fret not, there was a little something for gamers as well. A list of games that will soon go RTX On.
The first to join the club will be Hitman 3. Support for RTX has already been out for Hitman 3 for a few weeks, but we now know that it's officially supported for both RTX and DLSS. This means that while high-end rigs can enjoy the wonders of ray-tracing, thanks to DLSS, rigs that were struggling to run the game before might have a better time now.
We thought Hitman 3 was a fantastic stealth game with a high replayability factor, add to that a planned roguelike mode and we can't wait to jump back in, this time with glorious ray tracing. Check out our review for the game here.
The second title to go RTX On will be F1 2022, support for which won't release till sometime next month. F1 2021 (which we thought was a solid entry point into the series, read the review here) already supports both DLSS and RTX, so F1 2022 getting the same treatment doesn't really come as a surprise. DLSS support for the new F1 game is appreciated considering how beefy the requirements for the game are.
There were a few other notable mentions in the list, with no specific dates mentioned, however. This includes Deep Rock Galactic, a fantastic co-op game which already has an experimental RTX mode, but it's pretty wonky. Check out our review for the game here. Official RTX support should hopefully take care of all the jank.
Other titles mentioned in the list include LEAP, Ghost, Loopmancer, Hydroneer, Propnight, Raji: An Ancient Epic, Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong, Turbo Sloths, and Warstride Challenges.

Motorolas first 200MP phone will launch in July, could it be the long-rumored Moto Frontier
Motorola has shared a poster on the Chinese social site Weibo which teases a forthcoming 200MP phone from the brand. Well, that’s what we glean from the loosely translated texts from the teaser. The said image has got a giant camera lens along with an invitation to “the era of 200-million pixel images” and a promise of an “insight into unprecedented details”. Now, this isn’t the first time we are hearing about a Motorola phone with a 200MP camera. We’ve got a name also which is “Frontier”.
So, could the aforementioned marketing-speak be referring to Motorola Frontier? If yes, here’s what we know about the phone —
Motorola Frontier Specs and Features (Expected)Leaked Motorola Frontier renders
From the previous leaks and rumors, we think the phone could sport a 6.7-inch HDR10+ FHD+ 144Hz AMOLED display. There could be a 60MP selfie taker.
As for the rear, the setup could include a 200MP main camera, a 50MP secondary shooter, and a 12MP third snapper.
Leaked Motorola Frontier camera island | Source: Weibo
Inside, the Moto Frontier could be bearing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 that was recently announced. The memory combination could go up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The battery size could be 4500mAh and the charging speed could be a stupendous 125 watts.
The first Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Motorola phone could be Moto Razr 3 or the Moto Frontier
It is an easy guess that the Motorola phone will have a nearly stock Android 12 software with MyUX skin on top.
Among other things, the handset is likely to have an in-screen fingerprint scanner, 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB-C port.
That’s a very flagship-y assortment of specs. However, as we said, they are still based on the rumor mill. So, we are still waiting for corroborative shreds of evidence to tie in these with the so-called Motorola Frontier. That said we could come across more concrete details in the times leading up to the July launch. Stay tuned.

Instagram is reportedly changing how stories work check all the details here
Instagram, a wildly popular social media app from Meta, is reportedly testing a brand new feature to update how Instagram stories work. This is an updated Story layout that will hide excessive stories shared by a user. The update will make it so that only three stories per user are viewable before you move on to the next user's stories.
Instagram Stories Update: How will it change stories? The new feature was first observed by Phil Ricelle, a Brazillian Instagram user, who pointed out that this change via a Tweet. The tweet contains a screenshot that shows the new Instagram Stories layout. He also showcased a new option located next to the user profile that reads 'Show All'. Essentially, Instagram is testing a change that will only show users three stories per user and hide the excess. The 'Show All' button will allow users to see all stories once again, should they wish to.
Menino @edisonlsm também caiu no “mostrar tudo” hahaha pic.twitter.com/3jzpRQ4LjF
— Phil Ricelle (@philricelle) May 17, 2022Currently, Instagram allows its users to post up to 100 stories at a time that last for 24 hours before disappearing. The feature is possibly being tested out to attempt to combat users having to go through numerous stories at once. The update could help users see more from their connections without wasting too much time on one profile. Naturally, if this feature is implemented, views on the fourth story onwards will be impacted. This may not go down well with influencers though that rely on Stories to connect with their audience.
Formats such as Ask Me Anything and long sponsorship stories, popular in the influencer community, may be impacted due to this change. The 'Show All' button will provide some relief but influencers will have to ask their followers to enable this setting. Nevertheless, for general users, this may provide some much needed relief from having to sit through dozens of stories uploaded by one person, allowing them to see more from other users.
The alleged update hasn't rolled out to most users. Instagram is possibly still testing out the feature in controlled groups and will wait before rolling it out worldwide.

Sony LinkBuds S launches with ANC and Auto Play feature
Sony has unveiled a new pair of TWS earbuds from the LinkBuds lineup named the LinkBuds S. Although not specifically mentioned, the “S” in the name could mean either Sound or Small. After all, Sony calls these “The world‘s smallest and lightest, noise-canceling, Hi-Res Truly wireless headphones.” At 4.8 grams, they are a tad heavier than Nothing Ear (1)’s 4.7 grams. Well, that size covers a 5mm driver and a battery capable of delivering 6 hours of runtime. The buds also bring ANC, LDAC codec, and Sony-specific features.
Let’s dig in further to unearth the complete details.
Sony LinkBuds S Specs and FeaturesSony has gone with a closed and more conventional design. It has an in-ear-shaped opening. The earbuds are IPX4 rated against water.
Internally, there is a 5mm dynamic driver, support for Bluetooth 5.2, and codecs like SBC, AAC, and LDAC.
LinkBuds S are ANC-equipped too. You also get ambient-aware Adaptive Sound Control, Quick Attention, a situational-aware Auto Play feature, and DSEE Extreme upscaling.
As per Sony, Adaptive Sound Control “senses where you are and what you’re doing, then adjusts ambient sound settings for the ideal listening experience. Over time, it learns your behavior and recognizes locations that you frequently visit, such as your workplace or a favorite café, and adapts to the situation”.
Meanwhile, the brand says, Auto Play can “automatically play music as soon as you put the headphones on or finish a call. Settings can also trigger music to match your behavior, such as a mood-changing walk or a post-meeting focus track”.
All those features and the new LinkBuds can clock 6 hours and an additional 14 hours from the case for a total of 20 hours. The company says you can charge up the buds in 2 hours and the charging case in 3 hours (with a USB cable).
Sony LinkBuds S Price and AvailabilitySony has priced the LinkBuds S at $200 which roughly translates to ₹15,562. The earbuds are available starting May 20 in select markets.
